En la historia latinoamericana hay cuatro hombres ilustres que han recibido oficialmente y por reconocimiento histórico y popular, el rango de: Libertador.

Dos de esos hombres son venezolanos; el primero es Simón Bolívar, que liberó a cinco países, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Bolivia, del yugo de la corona española; el segundo de ellos es el Mariscal Antonio José de Sucre, el más noble cumanés, considerado popularmente como el libertador de Bolivia.

Y además, en la historia de la región, se reconoce como libertadores a José de San Martín, libertador de Argentina, Chile y Perú, y Bernardo O’Higgins, considerado popularmente como el libertador de Chile.

Todos ellos fueron militares y políticos muy reconocidos y con mucho peso en la historia de la región, pero tal vez el que posee el mayor reconocimiento, por su peso político y militar en la región y en el Caribe, es Simón Bolívar.

Y Bolívar en la carta que le escribió a Patricio Campbell, el 5 de agosto de 1829, desde Guayaquil, y en esa misiva el Libertador plasmó una cita notable, que hoy se hace más real que nunca y que dice: “Los Estados Unidos parecen destinados por la Providencia para plagar la América de miseria a nombre de la libertad.

Me imagino que en esa época Campbell, que era el encargado de negocios del imperio británico en Colombia, no tuvo la capacidad de ver el valor profético de las palabras de Bolívar, que se han cumplido paso a paso a lo largo de la historia de Sudamérica.

Más, cuando a través de la doctrina Monroe del año 1823, los gobiernos estadounidenses consideran a la región latinoamericana como su patio trasero, y con esa mentalidad han provocado golpes de Estado, intervenciones militares, asesinatos, la violación de los derechos humanos, y se dieron el lujo hasta de crear una escuela, llamada La Escuela de las Américas, donde los militares, policías y miembros de las comunidades de inteligencia iban a aprender todas las tácticas de sometimiento, destrucción, tortura y aniquilación de cualquier movimiento independentista o nacionalista que rompiera con las políticas estadounidenses.

Hoy en día, Venezuela nuevamente encabeza una lucha independentista contra un imperio, ojo, y esto no implica que al escribir esto apoye al gobierno del país, pero lo que sí implica es el hecho de que Venezuela le está demostrando a la región que se pueden hacer cambios y se pueden avanzar en ellos, aunque no le guste al gendarme del norte.

Y mientras los Estados Unidos responde como siempre, con sus políticas de amenazas, sanciones y posibles intervenciones militares, Venezuela crea nuevas estrategias, busca nuevos socios que le dan apoyo político, comercial, militar y financiero, haciendo que las políticas de temor y miedo que antes imponía el gigante del norte pierdan poder ante los ojos de toda la región.

Solo quedan claras dos situaciones: la primera, que Bolívar tenía razón con aquella cita notable que escribió; la segunda es; que un pequeño país latinoamericano, con problemas de corrupción política, con una economía devastada por las sanciones políticas y económicas estadounidenses, que ha pasado por intentos de golpes de Estado, de revoluciones de color y muchas otras situaciones más.

No ha podido ser doblegado por la potencia del norte, que en vez de lograr sus metas, de minimizar y destruir a Venezuela, la está fortaleciendo políticamente en todos los niveles y le está dando un nivel de preponderancia enorme.

Algo que están viendo todos los países y pueblos de la región, situación que de hecho ha provocado un análisis muy interesante del profesor y analista político Jeffrey Sachs, que lo dejé en este enlace para quien desee verlo.

Para terminar, solo puedo decir qué visión tan clara tenía el Libertador Simón Bolívar sobre el papel de los Estados Unidos en nuestra región.

Moreover, when through the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, the American governments consider the Latin American region as their backyard, and with that mentality they have provoked coups d'état, military interventions, assassinations, the violation of human rights, and they even gave themselves the luxury of creating a school, called The School of the Americas, where the military, police and members of the intelligence communities were going to learn all the tactics of subjugation, destruction, torture and annihilation of any independence or nationalist movement that broke with American policies.

Today, Venezuela is once again leading an independence struggle against an empire, be careful, and this does not imply that by writing this I support the government of the country, but what it does imply is the fact that Venezuela is showing the region that changes can be made and progress can be made in them, even if the gendarme of the north does not like it.

And while the United States responds as usual, with its policies of threats, sanctions and possible military interventions, Venezuela is creating new strategies, looking for new partners that give it political, commercial, military and financial support, making the policies of fear and fear that the giant of the north previously imposed lose power in the eyes of the entire region.

Only two situations are clear: the first, that Bolívar was right with that remarkable quote he wrote; the second is; that a small Latin American country, with problems of political corruption, with an economy devastated by US political and economic sanctions, that has gone through attempted coups, color revolutions and many other situations.

It has not been able to be subdued by the northern power, which instead of achieving its goals, of minimizing and destroying Venezuela, is strengthening it politically at all levels and is giving it an enormous level of preponderance.

Something that all the countries and peoples of the region are seeing, a situation that in fact has provoked a very interesting analysis by professor and political analyst Jeffrey Sachs, which I left at this link for anyone who wants to see it.

In conclusion, I can only say what a clear vision the Liberator Simón Bolívar had about the role of the United States in our region.
