How long did it take you to plan a new habit and how quickly did that new habit fail?? Honestly I think as a society we completely get it wrong. We are told that as soon as it hits January 1st we need to become a "new me" and adapt all these unrealistic habits that just arent attainable for modt of us.
Honestly? I think the new year should start in April. January should just be for resting and resetting. But anyway, here are 5 micro habits I'm actually sticking to this year that wont give you a headache.
Everyone on social media is obsessed with waking up at 5 AM, doing yoga, and drinking green juice. That's just not realistic if you have a busy life or just love sleep lol.
Instead of waking up 2 hours early, just try 30 minutes. It’s a simple change but it definitely makes you feel so much more fresh. Use that time to wake up slower instead of hitting the alarm and jumping right out of bed.
You dont need a 40-minute gym workout to "count". I’ve started implementing just a bit of stretching or yoga. For me, it helps with my body feeling stiff, but for anyone, it’s that "calm before the storm". Give yourself that energy back before you go out and have to answer to a boss or a million responsibilties.
If you have a million things in the back of your mind like chores, laundry, and meetimgs, you need task chunking. Break your tasks into tiny micro steps.
I group everything into Urgent and Not Urgent.
Urgent: Deadlines you cannot miss.
Not Urgent: Things that need attention but dont have a deadline yet.
It frees up so much space in your head when you stop trying to do everything at once.
At the end of the day, when the makeup is off and the hair is in a bun, ask yourself: What went well today? What could have been improved?
We are our own biggest critics, but try talking to yourself like a sister. Talk to yourself with love rather than beating yourself up. Applaud yourself bc you are doing flipping amazing.
This is the most important one. Turn off social media. We are so chronically online and it’s literally frying our brains. Do you ever catch yourself doom scrolling with no purpose?? I do it too, no judgment here.
Try the "Do Not Disturb" button. Or even better, delete the apps for a weekend. I did it recently and it was the most peaceful weekend ever. There is a whole life outside of your phone, i promise.
Which one of these habits are you actually gonna try? I’m definately sticking to the 30-minute rule for now. Let me know in the comments if you feel the same way about January being a scam lol.
