Having the future within reach of a crystal ball has been for many years an illusion into which many people fell seduced, like sailors before the sirens' songs, even though they led them to a terrible end.
But can we really expect to change the present by knowing the future? Wouldn't it be wiser to work on our present so that our future becomes as close as possible to our desires and plans?
If a crystal ball were so powerful and magical as to show us a future that has not yet arrived, it would be more of a torture than a help, in the case that we believed our destiny is written before we arrive in this world.
For all these reasons, I prefer a crystal glass containing a delicious Moscatel to a crystal ball that distracts my present by thinking about a future we don't know if it will arrive.
