A picture is worth a thousand words/ Quest for learning
Zara will not comprehend what she is being taught in school simply because her foundation was very poor.
“How on earth will you be extravagant with the money your parents gave to you, you must be clueless on how this money is gotten”. He was actually talking to a student who walked behind him in a sober mood into the class.
Zara’s teacher walked into the class with rage written all over his face. It was her first day in school, “what kind of big big grammar is this man speaking?” She asked herself,
“ I wonder how dad wants me to cope with this kind of a thing”
Her head was still down when the teacher called for her attention. “Hay, please be on your feet.” Zara stood up immediately with her eyes rolling from one corner of the class to another trying to compose herself so as not to fumble.
This man should use simple terms on me because where I came from, we don't use big, big english to speak. She muttered in her mind as she moved her foot just like someone who is shy with a new lover but this case was a case of fear.
What is your Nomenclature? The word sounded like a bomb to her ears. She was dumbfounded for a while before she finally said I don't have an idea sir. She thought it was the definition of that word he wanted her to say. Because that was the first time she was hearing such.
The whole class burst into laughter. Her face knew no shame when the teacher rephrased the question.
“What is your name?” Zara, she replied and sat quickly on her seat with her head on the table.
That was her first class and that class was a total blackout for her. Most of the terms the teacher used were strange to her and she wouldn't want to ask questions so she doesn't face the embarrassment she faced earlier in the class.
That was when Zara knew the importance of her Oxford dictionary. Zara set out a special time to study new words and know what they mean and in no time she became one of the best students in her school.
