Is age just a number?

Indeed they say that age is just a number, well…
I don’t know how I actually view this statement but I know that experience ones with age and one’s experience can make a lot of difference. No matter how we try to view this, we cannot compare the maturity of a child to that of an adult because of the age factor but when it comes to two adults, this may very due to some practical experiences I have had.

Take a case study of two adults who are in their twenties and thirties. We can’t say that because the one of them is older than the other, it then means that the older one is more matured than the one in his twenties. There may be a probability that the one who is younger may be more matured in attitude and reasoning while the older one is more matured in age. To a great extent, maturity in age should be a factor for more mental maturity but we’ve seen that it’s not always so.

I’ve seen cases where someone who is in his thirties acts and reasons like someone who is really matured and somehow you can even say that the mental capacity is higher than the age meaning that the person season behind the age bracket and I have also seen a situation where someone who is in the theories literally behaves like a child and in this case the person does not exhibit the mental maturity and even attitude wise the amount of maturity that is expected of him.

I used to be very concerned with someone who was once in that bracket where I would say he’s my friend and he was in his thirties. Now the amount of confidence I had in this friend due to his age bracket was drastically reduced as he did not in any way fit into the mental maturity gap that he should fit into. I had issues with communication and reasoning when it comes to him and that’s because he wasn’t just only mentally immature and even in his character, but he’s also very shallow.

When you would expect his to reason as a man he make a mockery and play of everything and you’d keep wondering why you have to deal with such a person. The worrisome thing about this is that is that I’d by virtue of what’s beyond your control, you’d just have to make do with these type of people, you would have to see yourself stopping lower than you should just to accommodate their childishness or even get them to reason just like you by any means.

This is really an object for concern especially when tasks are meant to be achieved or even when you have to answer to these people. Over time I have come to know that it’s possible for someone to be twenty and be very matured in their dealings, attitudes and reasonings while someone can be forty and still be behaving as a child. In the areas of maturity, a lot of things contribute to people’s levels of maturity such as the family background or the type environment they grew up in or the type of things they feed on in time or reading, watching and also the places they visit.

Dealing with immature adults can be alot to handle and it’s worse when the person does not even know they need to grow up. My experience was so frustrating that the only thing I could was to cut off the person. Indeed I got to know first hand that that someone is advanced in age does not mean that the person is matured and vice-versa.
