UNDER THE RAINBOW - My Village Market Day

Today's prompt is under the rainbow and it reminded me of one market day in my village.

I went to market with my mother to sell garri. We left house around 6am. That morning the sky was cloudy, like it wanted to rain, but we still went.

By 10am, small rain started falling inside market. People started running to pack their goods. My mother quickly covered our garri with nylon. I was holding umbrella for us.

After about 30 minutes, rain stopped. Sun came out small. Then somebody in market shouted "see rainbow!" Everybody looked up. There was big rainbow directly on top of the market. It looked like it was standing over us.

The market women started making joke. One woman said "under the rainbow, all market goods will be cheap today". Another woman said "if you make wish under the rainbow, it will come true". People were laughing.

Even though ground was muddy and everywhere was wet, people were happy. The colours of the rainbow made the market look fine. Children were playing under it, jumping inside small water.

That day we sold our garri fast. My mother said it's because the rainbow brought good luck. I don't know if it's true, but that market day was different.

When I saw today's prompt under the rainbow, I remembered that market day. Sometimes something small like rainbow can change mood of whole place.
