That was the lie Chidi told himself as he entered the big boutique in Ikeja City Mall.

He had gone to buy one original jean for his birthday. Just one. He saved 35k from his NYSC allawee.

Inside the mall, one fine sales girl smiled at him.

"Oga, welcome. Which one you want?"

He pointed at one black jeans. Clean. No tear. The one real men wear, not those skinny jean wey dey cut breath.

She checked price tag and said, "35k sir."

That night, Chidi wore the new cheap jean to his birthday hangout at a lounge in Ikeja.
