Maxwell has been working as the company's head of security for over thirty years. During these space of time no major stealing or theft was reported. All the company's assets remained intact and this usually gets Maxwell an award at the end of every financial year.
But Maxwell developed an ailment that requires a major surgery. He was flown to a foreign land for the treatment which was billed to last for three months. As God may have it the surgery was successful. However, Maxwell had a relapse after about a week after the surgery. This entails that he had to remain there for another fortnight.
The company needed someone to step.in pending the time Maxwell comes back. Melvin volunteered to do the job in the absence of Maxwell. Everyone became skeptical about his zeal to take over in the interim. Melvin had to undertake to be of good conduct and also ensure that no company's assets is lost.
The head of operations had to bend backwards and take him in for the role.
