I had to post this post today for reasons which I am sure are abundantly clear already!
This was from the afternoon of Saturday 27th January. I dropped off Mrs T at her crochet class at the War Memorial and had my camera so decided to go exploring.
Well this is where we start today, on the esplanade in Kirkcaldy in Scotland. We are overlooking the Firth of Forth.
The ships are on their way back from Grangemouth.
Grangemouth is the huge refinery and petrochem plant along the coast.
Although I heard it is closing in a couple of years or maybe next year.
We are walking along the esplanade towards Dysart.
That outcrop is a seawall for the harbour behind it.
Back to our view on the left, and esplanade runs parallel to the road, that is the leisure centre you see.
That place is Pommy's a quite fantastic buffet restaurant.
We often get a delivery from them.
Are you out in a restaurant tonight? We stopped doing that years ago, and either do it the weekend before or after Valentine's Day.
So see you on Friday guys!
I do like them, as they know us and give uspreferential treatment haha.
Away in the distance, courtesy of my zoom...
Is a big red heart.
I had not seen it yet and was determined to capture what I had read about!
Rough weather means so much is washed up ashore.
This was high tide so it was all up on the rocks.
Having lived on the coast most of my life I am fascinated with fishing boats and their nets as you can see there.
The big boat house I call it, says it is R SALE, I am presuming it means FOR SALE!
Our viewbehind, I had walked all along that!
There she is!
I had read about it and it was installed close to September 14th last year.
September 14th is always a special day as it was my parents anniversary.
Being winter the sun was going down and I was busy snapping away!
Dog wif hat eat your heart out!
The road up the hill!
So I showed the pictures to Mrs T when we got home, thinking she would like them.
She asks what the little metal plaque says!
No idea says I!
Excerpt from article in The Courier newspaper
The sculpture was commissioned by Fife Council with the aim of installing something that would put a smile on people’s faces and attract visitors to the area.
Rory Thomas, who created the sculpture, told The Courier: “We wanted to build something that would give people a positive feeling in the town.
“The heart symbolises the love that we all have.
“The heart will also encourage people to take selfies which will give people an emotional connection to the place.
“Additionally, the aim was to give the promenade an identifiable feature that people would recognise.”
Rory and his son Kyran are behind metalwork business Iron Design by Rory, which has been based in Leslie for the last 40 years.
The big gives you some idea of size.
I was watching this guy and had crossed the road other wise I would have asked if he wanted me to take his pic with his love!
He moved back to capture the perfect shot!
I think the makers would be please it is being used with their intentions!
Oh heck I need to skedaddle and not be late to meet Mrs T!
This post is for my Valentine's day walk post of 2024 for #wednesdaywalk which was started by the wonderful @tattoodjay.

Haste Ye Back!
Great pictures and lots of hearts for Valentines! Kind of reminds me of the one in Philadelphia! City of brotherly love so they say...

Thank you, Tito Ed, for taking me along with you on this walk through your shots. Such a giant red heart and how thoughtful were the makers of it. I was hoping to see a selfie of you under it😊
Enjoy your date with Mrs. T ❤️
Hehe Mrs T does not like her picture in public so won't see a Mr and Mrs selfie lol and I never took one of me either 🤣
Salamat CJ 😁
I understand, Tito Ed :) We are the same in that regard. We seldom take selfies and sharing them publicly 😁
The heart kind of reminds me of an apple.
Oh yes or a bottom too!
haha, yeah!
A beautiful red heart just for today's Valentine's Day. Beautiful images. And many how I mark the heart.
Happy day to you. Here we say it is the day of Love and Friendship. And this is a community to make friends. Happy Thursday.
The day of Love and Friendship I like that!
Yes I had to post the red heart for Valentine's Day. Happy Thursday and enjoy your weekend.
Thank you very much and have a nice weekend.😀
You know, I’ve been over that side of the water for about 2 years now and still not tried pommys, I’ll maybe have to give it a go if you recommend!
Some awesome pictures, there’s always something interesting to capture so close to the coast! I’m not even sure I’ve seen that heart on my travels, I clearly don’t pay enough attention whilst driving by!
Yeah not on a Saturday though. I was walking past there a couple of Saturdays ago and it was heaving.
Great selection of food and value for money for sure.
The heart was put in last September, so not been there that long.
Happy Valentines Day!
That big heart really pops up and gives a bright, positive feeling around it. ❤️
Oh the heart really does pop!
Happy Valentine's Day 💙 I hope you had a fun one!
Happy Valentine's day boss boss.
I love the initiative for the sculptured heart. It's really cool. Also it's an additional accessory for Valentine's day, no more looking around for red 😁
haha yes the hunt for red was solved!
Hope things are getting better with you Becky and Happy weekend :)
Thanks boss T, still battling toothache but I'm on strong medications.
Happy weekend boss boss
Happy V-day Ed.. Did you and Mrs T date? Hehe
Thank you Jane and Happy Valentine's Day, well we never do on Valentine's Day but we do go out for lunch today yes.
You really captured the heart showing what it means to you but many people won't see it that way just like Mrs. T
hehe true enough partner and what about you?
I like the image with the silvery couple, I can imagine that heart must have seen many visitors yesterday!
It's such a pity one cannot do anything about the fishing nets etc that end up in the sea as it causes havoc with marine life.
You've obviously learnt by now not to keep a woman waiting, or else....
I think there would have been a few, although the weather was pretty meh!
Yes the nets are horrible, so many seabirds and turtles meet their grizzly fate with nets.
Heheheeh... It looks like you memorize many things inside (and around) that giant red heart! Two silver bloggers, a car, and almost that motorcyclist with his love... 😃
I didn't grow up along the seaside, but on the riverside, and I also like boats, fishermen reds, and everything that goes along the water... 😃
Thanks for sharing your walk! I didn't take mine yesterday, so this was refreshing!
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions Posts!
Please consider voting for our Liotes HIVE Witness. Thank you!
That is magic, thank you Zoltan 😁
Ah rivers, yes Serbia has the Danube which I went on a river cruise many moons ago. But there are lots now I remember.
So yeah water is water I think , be in inland or coastal the bugisstill there!
Many thanks for the OurPick project pick.
Standing in the wind got me cold or I might have tried to snap some more things in the heart. Maybe I do in the summer, we shall see. Mind you I would probably get arrested for something knowing the way this country is.
Maybe I saw you from a boat when I went fishing with my father, many moons ago... 😂
such a cool walk and the heart fitting for Valentines, not that we celebrate it, I look onit more as a commercial thing, if oen loves someone why do we need a set day to celebrate it
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Have a great day :)
Thanks Jay, let's be honest it is a total rip off and just commercialised. I stopped buying flowers for Mrs T years ago as she loved them, but could not stand them dying and throwing in the bin. So it is always a plant that I get instead and that can be anytime not on Valentines.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend😁
Anyone who enters this premises is going to sights the metal plague, then it's serving it purpose.
The heart deserve to be carved like this because it's where nicely things we do are coming out from.
You are right, the heart deserves to be carved like that! Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!
