Walk In the Heritage rest area

Greetings all hive friends, hope the news is good. Thank you Wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay. Sharing the experience of walking around the km 260 B rest area heritage Banjaratma, Brebes, central Java.

Traveling by car from the city of Pemalang, central Java, to the city of Sukabumi, west Java. The distance is around 350 kilometers. I departed from. Pemalang city around 5 am, using regional or non- toll road.

Arrival in East Brebes city there was a toll gate and vehicles entered via the toll road, around 15 minutes or around 6 am, I entered the heritage rest area km 260 B Banjaratma to breakfast and the remain of historical building which are used as rest of area.

After the car was Parked, I looked for a Restaurant and after breakfast I walked around the rest area. This restaurant area is a farmer sugar factory building that was established in 1907 and was built by the Dutch government.

Since 1997, the Banjaratma sugar factory has no longer been operational because one of the reasons is that it experience losses, operational losts were not commensurate with the profits obtained.

Most of the main building of the farmer sugar factory is still maintained, such as thick Walls, windows and donors which are large and when I entered the main building. I Saw that there were chinks of red brick with lots of furnace holes that had been deliberately preserved.

So that visitors could see the glory of the sugar factory back in the day, at that time. The space in the building funtions as stalls for traders to eat and drink as well as souvenirs for visitor who happen to stop by this place.

Besides food and drink vendors, there is also an art market in the form of a place for artists to work. Many types of painting are on display, such as paintings of flora and fauna. As well as paintings of National figures.

The paintings on display are sold at relative prices depending on the difficult of the object painted. Painters also accept order of there are visitor who want to paint directly at this place.

The atmosphere in the rest area is still early in the morning, there are not many visitor to this place. Out side the main building, there is a monument is the form of a train used to transport sugar cane stalks that would be ground into sugar.

Public facilities in the rest area include a fairly large parking area, restaurant, full filling facilities, toilets, health room, a mosque with a unique architectural and other facilities.

After seeing a lot at the heritage rest area, the journey continued again.
