I read a few novellas in the past but sadly haven't done a lot of reading in a number of years but will see if this one wets my appetite for a good story!

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat with regard to reading. I used to always have a book glued to my nose - not so much anymore. Other interests came along and then time was the issue. Over the past few years I have gotten a bit into audio books but not nearly as much as I used to. Novellas are a good start though because you can just read through them in one go, maybe two.
I enjoyed the treasure one from what I read last night! Herbert was really motivated to get out of dodge and go with the mysterious cat lady lol I haven’t gotten a lot farther besides them walking through the portal but it sounds like he’s got the hots for her!
