Does it stay light late at night? I was wondering because over here, children your son's age would be in bed by ten, not taking a class.

Nope. Here, the sun sets at around 7:10 pm.
We go to bed after 11:30 pm. It became the norm for us!
Here, 11 to 12 is the norm for adults, but children are in bed by 8 or 9, depending on their age.
