Hi there. How are you? I hope you are doing great. Welcome to my short diary for Monday, June 16, 2025!

On Monday morning, I noticed that my driving license had already expired on June 1st! So, I decided to renew it on the same day! The police headquarters opens at 7:30 a.m. However, it's a requirement to have a recent vision test from an authorised optician! The shop to do the eye test wouldn't open before 8 a.m. Later, I had the morning shift from 9 a.m.!! So, I had to inform the clinic that I would be late joining the morning shift!

After 8 am, I went to a nearby shop that conducts eye tests. I found out that the old man couldn't upload the test result to the police website! Another lady would come at 9 am, who could upload the vision test result!! So, I did the test and waited for some time there. Later, I went to the police headquarters at around 9:10 am. And, I received my new driving license in 15 minutes! It was renewed for another two years. It cost me 20 OMR (~52 USD).

It was a relaxing duty time at work. I consulted only around 20 patients in my chamber. The last patient in the morning shift was a somewhat emergency case. He came with sudden, acute urticarial rashes with intense itching for the last 10-15 minutes following a bee sting- classic feature of acute anaphylaxis! Luckily, it only involved his skin. He didn't have any breathing difficulties. His other vitals were normal. We immediately gave all the injections for anaphylaxis. It took around 15-20 minutes to settle his intense itching and urticarial rashes.

I couldn't walk on the treadmill on Monday. But I could do 10,015 steps. I had a very short morning sleep and a short afternoon nap!

A Vaccine for Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection (rUTI)!

Around 11% of females experience an uncomplicated UTI every year, and about 25% of them have a second infection within the next 6 months. Recurrent UTIs are quite common in females. Typically, a prolonged course of antibiotics helps prevent recurrence, but it has its drawbacks.

Inmunotek S.L. in Spain is developing a vaccine called MV140, also known as Uromune. It is not an injection; rather, the candidate needs to spray it under the tongue twice daily for 3 months. The study results have been promising, showing a significant reduction in UTI recurrence rates among the study groups. The vaccine is in the final stages of development and is already available in over 26 countries under a special access program.
