You've expressed yourself nicely with the prompt and I like that. I totally understand that feeling where you go from having the most engaging day to having less activities to occupy your mind and time with. It's not a great place to be, especially in your case where you're far away from your loved ones. But I'm glad this has taught you that boredom is inevitable, and it gets more evident as you grow much older.
However, I think there's still time to try to fill in the space. Find something that interests you; schedule days to watch movies, hop on a call with an old friend, read a book, go to a fun spot, pick up a leisure skill etc. I'm sure incorporating these into your routine will lessen the feeling of boredom. That's absolutely amazing to be honest... Come to think of it, engaging in one or two of these activities like you just said would definitely lessen the time spent alone and will undoubtedly make boredom a story of the past,
