I was here quite early yesterday to share my two cents on this topic. I got here and nothing seems to be coming in full. Although, i knew what i wanted to write on but the motivation to express myself completely just wasn’t there, and as a writer I don’t deliver hundred percent when i am unmotivated about a prompt. That was how i decided to let go of this topic to come back for it later. I guess what i needed all along was a bigger and stronger push, and guess what guys, i am here with the strongest push of all and ready to express myself in words…
First and foremost, i had to consult the web to be sure if Nigeria also practices what we call “Democratic system of government“, because i for one am not sure if the word democracy and Nigeria have any good relationship. I have decided to disagree with whatever is on the web for many reasons…
Democracy as i last remember is said to be “the government of the people, for the people and by the people”, The shortest and most easiest definition alive. A big shoutout to Abraham Lincoln for this short and explicit definition of the term “Democracy”. This short definition that has laid emphasis on lots of leading guides has been turned upside down in this part of the world…
In a democratic system of government, citizens are given the privilege and power to elect their own leaders, regardless of their backgrounds, and after being elected to office these leaders are equally expected to deliver hundred percent to the people who have given them the privilege to be in that position. This is what it means to be the government of the people, for the people and by the people. In a democratic system of government, the people who are the allocator of power should always come first, their cries and demands should always be heard and addressed in the very best way possible, provided their demands are reasonable and are things that would enhance the betterment and prosperity of the country, and therefore making living conditions easier and better for every citizen of the country…
If you are a Nigerian and in this modern age and time, coupled with everything we all have been seeing, experiencing and subjected to so far, and you still think there is anything democratic about our current system of government, then you must be delusional or highly intoxicated on something stronger than alcohol and drugs. There’s nothing democratic about our mode of operation in this country. This picture has been painted in a way that they make us believe we are the ones in power, and that we have the power to choose whoever we want to lead us and enthrone them, but on the contrary they are the ones putting themselves in power and we definitely have no say in their decisions…
The power is concentrated and abused. Election in this part of the world is just a big camouflage, it is a big mask used to hide everything going on behind the mask. The rights we claim to have in this country are just lies, same way there’s nothing democratic about my country. Democracy has failed us big time, the leaders we have right now are just serving themselves and their selfish interests. What the citizens go through is none of their business, what matters to them is the utilization of that power and position to the best of their interests…
Since the democratic system of government that is said to be practiced here has failed us, we have decided to be the government of ourselves, waiting for these greedy men won’t yield anything other than disappointments. I am done expecting anything from any leader, the goal is to just make enough money to make ends meet, which is exactly why i won’t blame anyone that has JAPAED or is planning to JAPA someday, the reason is because this country has failed us greatly, and enough is enough…
In this part of the world, we are made to believe there is something called democracy, but deep down we know there is nothing democratic about this country. Everything is a big lie, the so called democratic system of government practiced here has never been of any help to we the citizens so far, If it was indeed definitely practiced here and has been helping the citizens then we won’t be having the number of immigrants we have today. That is to say, everything is a lie…
Honestly, I would have gone for the military system of government, but then it also has it’s own advantages and disadvantages, what if we are handed over to a tyrant ruler, but then this is looking like the best solution to this instability, and I don’t think there will be much difference between what is being done right now and what would happen if we are to fall on the bad side of the military regime…
At this point in time, i am done with everything, i have decided to move with the flow of things, let the leaders do whatever they want and let my fellow citizens adopt whatever form of government they want. As for me, it’s just a matter of time before i also join the JAPA crew 😂, I won’t be here to witness the next episode…
NB; all images are mine except for the sourced one…
THANKS FOR READING…
In fact, the 2027 election has been concluded now before the date, so do not stress about voting because it will be manipulated.
Everyone is tired, the citizens are tired. Government of the people, but it has been working contrary to that simple definition.
Let me join the JAPA crew as well because it seems nothing is working 🤔
Nice catch on fixing the source link. Those %5C gremlins can wreck a post, and the new line break with the underscore reads cleaner now. Do you use a specific editor or trick to stop links from getting over-escaped on Hive?
I post without link with ecency and go to peakd and add the source and link to it then update the post…
