Traveling Home.

(edited)

Traveling can be therapeutic for me at times but depends on where I'm headed. The viewing of towns, cities, neighborhoods in few seconds while in a fast moving car feels too good: especially while listening to music. Listening to music is a prerequisite for an enjoyable travel, I could remember how bad I felt the very few times I traveld without my earphones, they were bad travels for me.

The last I traveled was when I went back home was during the university session break. I went home to my parents but stiped by newly wedded sister's house to know how well she's doing with her husband. I spent just two days with my sister before heading to my parents house.

The journey started very late, first reason was because I took my time before leaving the house, second reason was that the car took long to get filled. The car contained 10, including the driver, it was a bit tight as the drivers here always want to get their money at once, they don't really care about how comfortable the passengers are.

As usual, I bought a biscuits NICE and a drink Nutri-C to aid a better enjoyment of the travel, I prefer to wear shorts and a cap when travelling: I feel more comfortable in them. I bought a nose mask and was ready for the journey. The car moved out of the noisy park. The first 4 minutes felt unreal, leaving school area and everything about school life and the transitioning to normal life at home was a bitter overwhelming at the moment: a lot would have changed in my neighborhood, even in my home church and I was skeptical if was ready to adjust to these changes.

The driver appeared to be in his 50s, hebcs he couldn't speed so much like I would have loved, he was more gentle with the car: it was good anyways. With the oraimo freepods 4 in my ears, I was able to have a different traveling experience other passengers couldn't even imagine. The pods had functions like noise cancelation and transparency, I switched in between these functions during the travel depending on my mood. Noise cancelation lock out all noise around me, just me and the music: one easily forget the physical environment with this kind of features. The transparency feature allows me listen to music with average volume of the noise from the environment, letting me have an idea of what's going on around me.

Some roads were super smooth and lonely, big trees and thick bush by the left and right sides, nothing to see asides green and red which was from the colour of the soil. Ogun State, Nigeria is blessed with a clay soil, every part of the state. The view was nice, the air fekt pure, the breeze was more in those part because there was no obstruction of air by building or other human activities.

We passed across many major markets, the urge to get down and wander in those areas was strong. Some markets were majorly for processed cassava for either garri, fufu or other processed products of cassava. Some markets were for clothes, shoes and bags, other were combination of whatever can be sold in a public market.

The only part of the journey I've never liked each time I go home is the 1 hour drive on an untiled road. Dust is always so much in the that one could choke if not careful. Drivers tend to slow down once a while because the vision can be unclear due to thick red dust in the air coming from the movements of tires on the dry clay soil. I bring our my nose mask and handkerchief when we get here to protect my nose, eyes and ears from the dust.

I got home and was super tired, mom had made me a very good meal. Ate, drank a very cold drink, had some chat with my mom and dad then went straight to bed.

The next time I'll be traveling will be around July, I will be done with school by then so I'd need to go home to see my parents. Aside from going home, I am planning to stay away from school area immediately after my last paper. I need to find a place to relieve myself worthily off all the exam stress and night reading.

Traveling back home after a long time at school is always full of emotions — a mix of relief, tiredness, and a hint of anxiety about what we'll find when we get there. That part about the discomfort in the car, the choice of snacks, and even the use of noise-canceling headphones. It's amazing how little things, like a fresher breeze or the muffled sound of headphones, can completely transform an experience.

That anxiety was so real.
I am always particular about how I travel, the earphones and drink are necessary.

Thank you for stopping by man, really appreciate your comment.

Traveling on dusty red is troubling. But glad made you have protected yourself with the mask.
