Hello Everyone,

This is another thought provoking topic, thank God for Hive learner, I would have not been able to research much about this very sensitive and important topic of surrogacy.
Trust me I have always felt surrogacy was a kind of Science Fiction stuff, it's so thrilling and something that massively keeps me thrilling, oh so a particular woman can actually carry another woman's baby and give birth to it. I never really thought this was a very possible stuff but trust me technology is going way beyond what we can ever imagine, I was surprised to how widely this practice is well adapted in almost every part of the world.

As I sit down to write about surrogacy, I'm reminded of the countless stories I've heard from individuals and couples who've embarked on this journey.
This journey is a very intentional and emotional one for whoever who does it, In fact I would say the decision of wether it's ethical to practice such is not open to just general views, it's a very personal one.

Surrogacy can be defined as the process by which a woman carries and gives birth to a child for another individual or couple.

For many, surrogacy is a beacon of hope. It offers a chance for those struggling with infertility to have a biological child, and for same-sex couples and single individuals to build their families.
Many times I actually watched in movies stuffs like surrogacy and artificial insemination, implants , BBl, gender changes and many more modification is being done, it's only makes me really lost in awe at how technology have really gone.
But it's essential to acknowledge the emotional complexity and potential drawbacks of surrogacy.

What are the Benefits of Surrogacy?
Surrogacy can bring immense joy and fulfillment to both the intended parents and the surrogate. Some of the benefits include:

  • Hope for Infertile Couples*: Surrogacy provides a chance for couples struggling with infertility to have a biological child.
So this is one of the Ethical and most meaningful reason why I feel surrogacy is Great, a lot of people have been suffering from infertility and some other biological issues that may not be suitable for them to bear children, so surrogacy can be the best option to opt in for.
Surrogacy can reduce the health risks associated with pregnancy, particularly for women with certain medical conditions. I also strongly believe that Surrogacy offers a family-building option for same-sex couples, single individuals, and those with certain medical conditions.

  • Emotional Fulfillment: Surrogacy can bring emotional fulfillment to both the intended parents and the surrogate. As far as there is consent and a mutual Understanding between both of them, I am 100% sure most surrogate parents have some form of reward from those people they are carrying their babies for.

What are the Drawbacks of Surrogacy
While surrogacy offers many benefits, it's essential to consider the potential drawbacks: the following are the drawbacks.

Surrogacy can be emotionally complex, particularly for the surrogate and the intended parents. Surrogacy can also be expensive, with costs ranging from $60,000 to over $100,000. Just like I predicted people actually pay a crazy amount of money to the women who are ready to carry out surrogacy.

Personally for me I wouldn't consider Surrogacy, it doesn't actually feel ethical, many people might feel otherwise but I feel its kind of shift out the order of Nature, it feels like playing God lol.

Surrogacy raises legal and ethical concerns, particularly regarding the rights of the surrogate and the intended parents. Surrogacy carries medical risks, particularly for the surrogate.

*Traditional Childbearing vs. Surrogacy
So, should surrogacy be adopted instead of traditional childbearing? The answer is complex and depends on individual circumstances. Traditional childbearing offers many benefits, including:
**Emotional Connectio connection between the mother and child during pregnancy.
Also Physical Experience of pregnancy and childbirth. Finally Biological Connection between the parents and child.

However, traditional childbearing may not be possible or desirable for everyone. Surrogacy offers a viable alternative for those struggling with infertility or seeking alternative family-building methods.

In conclusion
Ultimately, the decision to pursue surrogacy or traditional childbearing is a personal one, dependent on individual circumstances and preferences. personally for me, surrogacy is a no go area.
