Our successful evolution as humans came from the many problems we faced. Some of the biological challenges threatened our very existence, but as contenders, we fought, survived and evolved. I don't know about any other person, but to me, this is a beautiful thing.
Disease and infirmity has been mans greatest enemy. When a pandemic or epidemic arises, it threatens the existence of a wild range of population. One of the many ways we have managed to conquer a wide range of these diseases is through medications.
There are many different medications out there, and each of them serve a specific purpose. Modern medicine is like our ammo during biological warfare. Quite interesting ya'know.
Vaccines are not to be left out. The mode of action of vaccine is a very interesting thing to understand. I remember when i was being taught pharmacology in school. My lecturer made sure that we understand how vaccines worked and what vaccine is for what, and which site it is administered.
Though vaccines came as a life saver, there are many misconceptions about it. Some persons are very scared of it to the extent that they despise vaccines. They tend to forget the fact that "prevention is better than cure." ~ Unknown.
In this post, i will talk about Vaccinations. I will talk on why why i think people don't want to get vaccinated and lastly, some crazy theories behind vaccines. This is my entry for hive learners prompt, Vaccines. Soo, here goes.
From the scientific point of view, vaccines are basically micro organisms in their weakest state. Basically, they contain an amount of microbes which are weakened and introduce into the body. The body as we may know, has leukocytes that fights against harmful micro organism that enters the body. One interesting thing about white blood cells (Our body's soldiers as i like to call them) is that, when it fights against a particular micro organism, it remembers the microbe and the tactics it used to defeat it so that when next the body faces similar situation, the white blood cells can be able to fight it successfully without the individual having too much signs and symptoms.
When these weakened microbes are introduced to the body (Vaccines), the body's defense fights against them and win. ~ Knowledge acquired when i was still a student Nurse.
Where i'm from, they don't really believe in the action of vaccines. I didn't believe in it too. Not until i became a nurse.
I remember when the Covid pandemic was was very hot. People from my place said that the pandemic was a lie, and nothing was happening. They said that they were just making up news to make people scared. They even refuse to take the Covid vaccine siding that its a way of initiating them into illuminati.
Though I was not a medic by then, I had some knowledge of vaccines. I couldn't help it but wonder, how will somebody initiate somebody by trying to help them? In their words, "why would they have a little fever after taking the vaccine if its not an initiation process?"
That was when i began to understand that lack of knowledge kills. Welp, i took the vaccine. I completed the dose and i'm still not yet a member of the illuminati. Lol.
Thank you for reading.
Illuminati as how now. 😂. That’s way too far. Some said the spot of the vaccine area won’t heal and it will attract me Atala that will get permanently stuck there forever. Omoh.
But in the end I took the vaccine and not sticked oo.
Lol.. Omo these myths too much..
People sef ehh
I always like to hear stories like that since in my job I mostly deal with data, so I don't hear these type of stories in the practical end (health care providers). I hear so many stories in social media about COVID vaccine that I even start to question myself if we really needed it. But stories like yours show that we really had to have it, specifically in countries where the spread of the virus was uncontrolled we see big differences of before and after vaccination.
This is one problem with misconceptions. It will discourage other people from doing something that will benefit them.
There have been a whole lot of difference. But the sad part is that some people still don't believe in the vaccine.
thank you
