When i saw today's prompt topic about staying without a mobile phone, gadget or any other devices for a particular period of time, the first thing that came to my mind was "Omo, this one hard." "Omo" is a Nigerian slang that is used to express a lot of things, including shock, fear, tiredness, lack of willingness to do something....... The list goes on and on.. just name it.
Ever since mobile phones and internet was innovated, things became very different from how it used to be. Phone addiction is the order of the day. The advent of diverse kinds of gadgets came with quite a lot of disadvantages. Transcient insomnia rocks our world today as most people willingly sacrifice their sleep just to watch one more episode of their favorite movie, play more games, or watch one more tictok reel.
Some people can't actually do without their phones or laptops. If their phones is away from them for 20 minutes, it will be as if a very important part of their life is missing. This actually brings up a question in my mind. Are we actually in control of these gadgets or are these things controlling us?
Inarguably, aside from the addictive entertainments, our phones do play a very good role in making life easier and communication faster. We can now work from the comfort of our house while making millions of Naira. Its really nice though.
Honestly, i can't say for a fact that i can be away from my phone for a long time. Even when i sleep, i plug my phone in, and keep it at the head of my bed which is very close to me. I know for a fact that i'm somewhat addicted to my gadget, but this is for a good reason though.
It may sound weird but i see my gadgets as my partner because it has been with me through thick and thin. When i'm sad, i go to my gadgets. When i'm happy, they are there with me. When i'm broke, they give me money, and when i have money, they help me save.
I'm not actually addicted to watching these reels on socials, but i'm addicted to always looking for updates, courses and things that will help improve my worth and value. If not for the aid of my gadgets, i would not even be writing this post, neither will i learn most of the skills i have today.
I can't actually go more than 30 minutes without my phone. Welp, unless i'm in the hospital and i have patients that i'm taking care of. Except that, I can't do without my gadgets. Though if something happens, lets say an event that requires me to not use my gadget, then, i will have to take a break. But all things being normal, I will always have my phone with me in my pocket.

This is my entry for hive learners prompt.
Thank you for reading.
The life we live today is connected to our phones, no doubt. It would become empty when the phone is kept away from us.
Frankly, my phone is a companion that carries me to the world beyond.
