I Forgot Something On fire For Over 4 Hours

(edited)

It is perfectly natural to forget some things once in a while, most especially when you are multitasking. Let's say you have many things to do at once, and you have a deadline. It's actually normal to forget little details due to the overwhelming workload.

Conversely, if you keep forgetting something every now and then, let's say you forget to do something important every single time, or you loss a particular portion of your memory, then that's not normal.

Sometimes, When I enter a room with the intentions of carrying something from the room, I will end up forgetting what I went into the room to get. In most cases, before I would remember what I went to get, I would have to go out of the room, and try to remind myself by remembering what I wanted to do with what I was looking for, or sometimes, I'll have to look at what I was doing before I went into the room.
It's normal to forget, but it's not normal to forget something all the time.

I was not a very bright student during my college days. Though my results were good, I always forget some things I read before an exam or a test. It's quite frustrating ya'know.

Everyday, I will be outside reading all through the night just so that I could write something on the answer sheet, but guess what? When I enter into the exams hall, it will be as if I left my brain outside the hall while my other body parts came with me to the exams.

I will not remember anything I read and it will be like I've been playing all through and not reading. Most times, when I see the questions, I will automatically remember the answers to them. It's quite interesting and frustrating.

Something happened to me a few months ago. I was coming back from somewhere around 10pm, stressed and tired, so, I decided to take a shortcut instead of following the usual long road.

The thing with this shorter route is that it's usually not safe at night. There's been report of different crimes happening there, but still, I followed there to save some time.

Upon entering the street, I was cornered by three guys. I began to assess the situation and I noticed that one of them was holding a dagger. The other guy brought out a bag and asked me to give him my belongings. Before I could respond, I felt a cold sensation at the back of my neck. Upon turning to see the third guy, I didn't see a face, but I saw the dark chamber of a gun pointed to my face.

When I turned my head, the guy that pointed the gun at me saw my face and asked the other guys to leave me be. Immediately, they climbed their bike, and left in a hurry. I stood there, trying to make sense of what just happened, but nothing came to mind.

I followed that same road, and I got to where I live. Still thinking of it, I entered the kitchen to put something on fire, then I entered inside the room to continue thinking. I was deep in thoughts and I didn't know when I slept off with my gas on and a pot of jollof rice and beans on fire.

Due to the incident, I totally forgot about what I had on fire. This was around 10:30pm to 11:30pm.

When I woke up around 4am to urinate, something felt off, so I decided to check around. I saw smoke coming out from below and above the kitchen door, then I remembered that I placed something on fire. I rushed into the thick smoke and put off the gas. When I opened the pot, I saw that my food was already red burning charcoal. I could see the flames inside the pot. It was like I was cooking fire.

Throughout that day, I was very pissed off. When I thought of the amount of gas I wasted that night, it made me very annoyed, not to talk of the fact that I almost got robbed. That day was very disorganized for me, so, in other for me not to pass aggression, I spent the entire day watching a movie.

I told a few street boys I know about the incident and they reassured me. They said the hoodlums probably know who I was that's why they left me alone.

Ever since that day, I stopped following that road when it's 9pm. If I'm going back home, no matter how stressed I am, I would always follow the longer route and be safe.

Thank you for reading.

ou saved yourself from a couple of quite dangerous situations. Sometimes for distracting us or by the same mental stress, we are overlooked. In these cases it is very helpful to live with someone else at home. Sometimes I worry a lot about that, because I am afraid that as I live alone, something of that guy passes me and ends up suffering an accident. I am very happy that you are well, and please, you will not take that lonely path again, it is dangerous, do not tempt death.

True. This is one major reason why we should not live alone. More reason to get a roommate or maybe a wife ๐Ÿ˜

roonmate?, wife?, nunca!, Never!, my privacy and loneliness I do not change it for any of those two things, I have already learned to live alone, and I prefer to die on fire than to live with someone! ๐Ÿ˜€

I must say God really saved you that day, because some hoodlums people like that especially since you said one of them was holding gun are very dangerous. I'm glad you were safe eventhough you slept off putting food on gas.

Honestly i agree to this, sometimes i even wonder if i am carless or just forget things, i think this should also be classified as disability too. I know of some parents that carelessly forget their children in schools or some that take cars out and even forget the left with car.
