Apology Video, Genuine or Fake? Here's My Take.

Apology as a word on its own is defined as being regretful or feeling showing remorse of an offensive that a person committed to another person.

Most of the times, People who make apology videos online are influential people who are well known many people. Though that doesn't mean that a regular person can not make an apology video.

Apology videos are rarely used in our in our daily lives as regular people. You don't use apology videos for something you did to your sister, something you did to your parents, or when you betrayed somebody else's trust. In this case, the apology is done verbally. You apologize to the person verbally, and your actions show the offended that you are sorry and have repented for what you actually did and let them forgive you.

Mostly, apology videos are majorly for big scandals online which most times are not even backed up with the the offenders actions towards repentance. In our daily life, our apologies is done verbally and it is being examined and watched by the offended, to know whether it is genuine or not, but when the apology is posted online, you can never tell if the offender really means it or if they are just trying to reduce public pressure on them.

The way people present apology videos online makes it look easy and most times we can't really say if it is genuine or not. For example a man that cheats on his wife, a celebrity and after the whole scandal he comes online and he makes an apology video - apologizing to his wife (because she always talk about it online and the pressure from her fans is overwhelming him).

From this, we can not actually tell if he really meant the apology, or if it was as a result of the pressure from her fans. There are two things involved here, either he uses the opportunity to truly repent, or he stops her from being a celebrity so that the public will not have a say even when he's treating the woman wrong.

My thoughts on apology videos; I don't really think apology videos matter. From my perspective, it's just something you compile and post for the world to see. I would say your actions speaks better. Your actions shows if you are genuinely sorry and if you are, the world is definitely going to know about it because most people just put up apology videos but everything goes back to the way it was nand that is not right.

We should normalize apologizing with actions than apology videos. Compared to physical apology where you can see the person and the person can see you, I don't think apology videos being posted online have any weight. Its just something like - "let me just do the video for doing sake, after all these, i will do what i want to do."

We can't actually tell how genuine an apology video is, because, we are not seeing them after the video.

Really relatable take! Actions always speak louder than a camera apology.

Exactly my thought.
Online apology videos mostly comes from individuals with reputable public identity. It is always easy for them to just post the video and expect the public to just let the matter slide. For people like this, both their actions and apology, feels like it is being scripted. So even if it is genuine, we wouldn't know.

both their actions and apology, feels like it is being scripted.

You get the point. At times, they just want that attention and not lose their followers.

The offender may just post the video just for some nonsense sake, but the deed has been done.
Yes, you are right; the person might be genuinely sorry, while some may not. It's just for doing's sake, but may not be a genuine way to apologize.

True, their actions will always speak, no matter how they try to mask it.
