Your mum has a large heart and her kindness extended to you when you needed to go to the exam venue with the rain. It's never bad to appreciate people, it's a lifestyle we should all embrace and observe that at our capacity. However, tipping should always be optional...let people do things when they are moved and not by force . Also not over doing it especially to a particular person helps curtail entitlement spirit.
