I don't think the lesson is to depend on others, rather it is to learn to be more aware of things. Nowadays we have Google Calendar, and many other organizers that help us organize tasks. And if in those days you did not have access to Google calendar, then that can be solved by keeping everything written down in an agenda.

In my case I wrote down all the tasks on a calendar on the wall of my room, since I use Google I don't do it.

In short, it is terrible to forget things hahaha.
