RE: Is Society Becoming More Violent, or Are We Just Noticing It More?

It is both @bhattg: becoming more violent, and we are noticing it more. I'm a senior citizen, and I remember decades ago when individuals would resolve their differences in other ways, including actual fist fights. Normally the incidents would be centered around trivial matters.

Now, people still get into altercations over trivial matters. However, they resolve them differently now. With guns and loss of life. I read a few years ago that two men fought over a penny owed. One man shot and killed the other.

Also domestic violence has escalated. Instead of just walking away when two parties are unable to come to a satisfactory conclusion in their relationship, the issues are resolved with actual harm. And the majority of victims are female who leave behind children. For some reason, divorce has become obsolete. If you don't want me any longer, then no one else with be able to have you.

It's a sad state of affairs this society has embraced. And no one is willing to do anything about the way issues are resolved. I'm so tired of hearing, "we're sorry for your loss," then back to business as normal until the next incident.

So many issues that plague society now have always been there, they're just resolved differently now, so more people are aware due to social media's immediate capture of and distribution of the events, with millions viewing it instantly.
