A white lie shouldn't have negative consequences. In case of salty food you could say 7 rating and say 3 point missed for the salt. 7 rating should be a white lie. 5 rating was actually hurting.

Yea, I told her 5 cos I wanted to be honest but since she didn't take it well, white lie was the solution
You could give the number 7 instead of the number 5. Again, it also matters how you tell about it.
