Humans are called social beings, do you know why? Well, I’m not sure I know why either but if there is one thing I know, even our bodies were built in a way that there are hormones that are responsible for making us have the different emotions we feel and even how we react to literally anything. Humans are not to be in a one man’s squad, going alone is not something anyone should do even though they can, rather, it is good to socialize and make beautiful and meaningful relationships.
The reason why I’m stressing on the fact of what humans are and should be is because, as people who are made as social beings, there are just some certain things that we all should have an experience of, at least once in a lifetime. There are actually more than one thing I think everyone should have a taste of at least once in their lifetime but then, I know that sometimes even we ourselves give up on doing most of these things because of some unpleasant situations we find ourselves in.
So for my suggestion, one thing I think everyone should have a taste of at least once in a life time is, TRAVELING. As casual as it may seem to some of us, it will interest us to know that, there are some people somewhere that have chosen never to step their legs outside the town they were given birth in, others who for one reason or another, have no choice but to remain in one place and for me, this is quite limiting and not fair to them and even some persons around them. I mean, most times it’s not really because they don’t have the money to leave their hometown but they have just decided not to leave.
And that was why I was stressing the part that we are social beings. And besides that, do you know that our perspectives of things change or get better the more we move from place to place? There was this guy who once said, he believes that his mother's food was the best and every other person's food was not as tasty as his mother’s food until the day he tasted someone’s food and he was force to admit that what he said wasn’t true. Most times, we get the idea of things just based on the little we have experienced and that is why we most times have arguments with people unnecessarily because we find it hard to be open enough to unlearn to relearn.
What traveling does to you is something you can only understand until you have gotten that experience. The more you meet people, the more you hear ideas or beliefs that are really strange but then, you either get more understanding on how to pass the right idea or you learn the better idea. Staying in a particular place all your life is not a bad decision but I believe you will be more happier if you don’t stay in just a place all your life. It is basically you basking in your comfort zone. And trust me, stepping out of a comfort zone is something that takes a lot of determination to do.
Go out there, meet new people, find new interests and listen to others ideas and perspectives about different things, learn, teach and keep growing and becoming a better person. Staying in one place will only make you more rigid and worst cases, it will make you look timid for a long time. I know it might be hard for someone who has never left their town to make up their mind to do so, especially for the fact that they will get to realize that they have missed out on so many things but then, it’s never too late to start learning.
Visiting different places will definitely make you try out new dishes and even get to attend some occasions too. I really think that this is one thing everyone has to try out at least once in a lifetime and there are so many reasons of which I have mentioned only a few. Take some time to think about it and be intentional about leaving your beautiful hometown to other places. You can start with the neighboring towns and cities. Remember, it’s always good to dream big but start small, hehe.
Thank you for stopping by. I’d love to know what you think about my thoughts of “at least one thing everyone should have a taste of”.

I have seen people who have never gone out of their vicinity since their birth, with no experience whatsoever.
Thanks for sharing
Yeah, they do have a valid reason but I hope they revisit those reasons and go out there to see things and people their creator has made and be happier. 🤭
Thanks for stopping by, ma’am. 🌹
Hey there, Hopey.
When we think of it, there are people who have never travelled. They have never left their states or villages. I know of a person who schooled in Ife. He did his primary and secondary education there. Interesting, he also chose OAU as his first choice.
There is joy in traveling and visiting new places. As you rightly mentioned- go out there, meet new people and enjoy life.
Thanks for sharing.
Hey Favey. 🥰
Yeah, there are so many people like that and most times it’s really not something that they have control of but I believe if they put their minds to it, one day they will leave.
Thank you so much for stopping by. 🌹
Traveling is part of learning, when we go out of our comfort zone and meet with people with different mentality it becomes easy for us to learn especially those that open their minds to change. Some people already made up their mind not to advance their knowledge so no matter the environment they find themselves, nothing changes.
Thank you for sharing
I worry for those kind of people the most. I hope someday they will have a reason to rethink their decisions.
Thanks for stopping by. 🥰
Traveling is a nice job and it something everyone should have a taste of it but some people are not willing to take risk of traveling due to reasons best known to them.
Yeah? It’s hard to start doing something you’ve never really done before and trust me, most times there is always a good reason for it.
Thanks for your input. 🥰
Travelling is definitely a beautiful thing and just coming home yesterday from osun to Ibadan was indeed stressful for me but then I loved it. Just like I feel travelling is definitely something everyone should try out . For instance,I have only visited majorly 5 states in Nigeria and they are all in the south west. So just going out of these zones is something I am definitely looking out for in the future.
If we want to talk about the risk involved in traveling, especially these days, one will hardly want to participate in it.
I’m glad you arrived at your place safely. 🥰
Thanks for your input. 🌹
Ha!!
Ha and Ha!! What can I say??? You made me feel like a outcast initially when you said humans are social beings(: … I am the most unsocial and distanced person on earth, less distanced than before though.
And I can never have meaningful relationships and infact I am closeted in toxic relationships, I want to shield myself from.
But inbetween for a few years in my 30’s I travelled and yess, it changes you, it changed me. You do eat different food, you see new places, have new experiences and even have interactions. It’s opens up your mind!
I travelled and stayed all alone in a roach infested hotel, just to check out lake region. I travelled in places vibrant with lovers in the park, all alone again just to explore.
What I learned is… you learn to be comfortable with yourself, accept yourself, open up, take charge of your life, be responsible, be comfortable in your skin!
For me travel is never a easy option because for women travelling alone is unsafe so family thinks… so I don’t have the freedom!
Ha… now I can’t travel…no money, no time, but even then I am glad for the travel I did. I even trekked and when I trekked I was actually old also 31… it was hard but I managed to climb the submit, small hill landscape! Then I never could trek, again restrictions, time contraints, pressures of life.
So… I can’t travel much… but I can vouch that having good people around you is good, and travelling with good companions is good as well..
I emphasise this same point in the article I written where Bilbo baggins, his journey doing an adventure, stepping out of his comfort zone as he did in the hobbit. I think you will like it.

As for me – I am very unsocial, I can’t maintain relationships, I are not lonely I was earlier, and rarely I meet and greet people but only select people who understand I am isolated because of some discomfort and don’t push.
I never had my social and coping skills built up because I had childhood issues. But it don’t matter. The social media connects me with others though which I chat with like minded people, share stories, so I am not completely isolated I guess. They actually like conversing with me!
Now, instead of travelling I want to change society – climate change, make society better, instill positivity for my future generation, so they travel and enjoy life as free humans! I hope I can do something, always aspire too! Because places are not as nice as before destroyed due to pollutions, tree cutting and dirty tourist pollution.
I actually got a travel writer tag in Hive you know – I am identified as a excellent travel writer, but very limited time experience. It’s wonderful writing travel blogs, reliving that experience with the picture and here only I connected with so many people, of different nationalities too.
But now I don’t know what sort of writer I am… I was web3 writer untill I am not able to write that well on web3 this year, I am picking up though. I don't want to lose that tag, even if I lost tag of being a travel writer!
Anyway…
You said so much and I have so much to say too but I will just say the summary of what is on my mind.
Traveling is good, meeting people is beautiful and even more beautiful when you meet those people that can stay. But then, sometimes we are not so fortunate to meet the ones that are willing to stay and we tend to give up.
I believe your age is an advantage for you to even reach out to people than stay in your space enjoying it all alone. But it’s totally fine if that’s the choice you’ve made for yourself.
Thank you so much for this comment, it’s a pleasure having you stop by.
