Roads and Responsibility

Dear Hive Friend and Hive Learner Members,

The infrastructure are the pillars of economy of any country . Indeed they are back bone of the growing countries. The transportation is one such basic infrastructure which contributes a lot in the growing economy. India is developing country and their are many area where the transpiration is still a big challenge, at some places the roads are not in good condition or even at some places the roads are not at all exist. Fortunately I am living in a part of India which has roads which are not world class roads but are better then many parts of country. Good infrastructure can make a big difference in daily life.

There are two key aspects when discussing transportation: the condition of the roads and the driving behavior. The condition of roads is one which is responsibility of the Government. We can blame Government any time if we find that the roads are in bad condition but what we have to say if the people using the roads do the rash driving or not following the traffic rules. I have observed that the people do not have patience and they are always in hurry and this is the main reason that the people break the traffic rules. Some of them are really in the hurry because of some reason but most of other do it because of their nature. Nobody wants to be left behind.
I have seen the people break the red light signal mostly. We must understand that the traffic lights are for our safety and when we ignore it means we are not only endangering our life but others also. When some one jump the red light that means he is interfering with the traffic form other side and that leads to the traffic jam and many time the reason for accidents. During a radio show I learned a very good lesion about the traffic lights, The traffic lights learn us the lesson of discipline and to be patience. When we stopped at the traffic light and waiting quietly for the green signal means we are disciplined and we have patience.

Another one thing I observed and do not like is the unnecessarily honking. People on the straight road blow horns when the over take others, I do not understand the meaning of such activities. And their are many people who start pressing the horn on traffic lights. The moment they saw the green signal they start honking, we must understand that it took some time to get momentum when the vehicle start moving after the green signal. I have seen many people using the vehicle headlights in high beam when they are coming form the front side on a single road. The LED lights are very bright and when such bright light strike on eyes other driver they make them blind for some time. Similar incident I have seen on highway also when some driver wants to over take or comes for behind with high speed they flash the headlight which hit the front mirror and then strike on the eyes of other driver. Some time this create a very series problem as this make the driver blind for couple of seconds.

Not following the lane is the major reason for the traffic jams in city. Most of the time we will see the three lines of vehicle on traffic signal of double lane road. People on left side lane wants to take the right turn, and why they were in the left lane because it was empty or has less number of vehicle. They do not worthier that it is inconvenient for the others, what they know is their own convenience.

I like to add that the conditions of roads is not good after the raining season. I want to share a recent incident happened last week itself after the rain. I went to market and it was inconvenient to drive at some places during my journey to market, because of the damage of road after the rain. This shows the poor quality of roads and proof that the material used for the construction of roads is not of good quality.
In my opinion the wrong habits of people can be change up to some extend by using the strict traffic rules but it can only be solved fully by the cooperation of people only. Till the time people do not understand the importance and do not change their behavior the complete solution is not possible. The government can not do anything alone its the people how make the changes as whole. Traffic signal are for the better control of the traffic and we have to show respect to it.
