PARENTING: THE NEED FOR EVERY PARENT TO ARISE

One of the challenges in our contemporary society today is on the matter of parenting and discipline. There are so many factors that revolves around parenting. In this post I intend to share some experiences that I have over the number of years have spent in marriage.

Modern-day parenting seems to be somehow difficult because of many factors surrounding the modern-day parent. Before now the kind of development we have are different from these days development. Some of the factors that affect the modern day parents include technological advancement, ecological changes, economic changes.

I will just talk about two of the points which have listed above that is technological and economic changes. When we talk about technological advancements you know before now we we have limited access to the internet let's say we have to transportation.

Before now to embark on a journey on a single journey you have to take hours sometimes you have to trick for days sometimes you have to trick for months before you get to a particular destination but in these days we have advanced means of transportation. We can travel by air, you can travel by land with and the use of donkey is so limited now.

Talking about technology whose advancement in the 1960s and 1980s even down to early 2000 the rate by which will gain access to internet was so limited. I remember growing up there was no much access to the internet. Before you can access internet, you have to go to the cyber cafe. At times you have to buy time for night browsing so so you'll be able to access some information but these days a child of five or 10 years is already exposed to the internet. You see the the way you will have to handle those kind of children that are already exposed is different from the way you handle children that are not in school so this things makes it more difficult for children. They get to the internet to see a lot of things they see in the internet so parenting in this modern age is is more difficult to compare with when we are growing up.

Seeing that the children have more exposure than the way we are we also we need to be growing with them so that they will not leave us behind. Talking about discipline at home in the modern day children.

One discipline that I have instilled in my children is in the area of the usage of handsets. Addiction that comes with the use of this technology if you are not so careful you'll be so addicted to it to the point that you would not be able to pay attention to other things. For Instance they need more time to read this week and next week I told them that this week you don't have to be so attached to phone or TV. We called it TV free week in the sense that there is no oning of television so they will be able to concentrate and read their books.

Some which back a particular country was putting up a regulation to stop children of the the underage children from getting access to handset saying that the educational system has gone so low so and they realize that is because the children are so addicted to it.

Parenting and discipline has to be deliberate if not a lot will go wrong with our society. When you spare the child hmmmm you would spoil such child. Parents should enforce discipline. There was a time my male child watched the TV such that his eyes literally turned red. Since then, I tried to regulate their watching time.

Another kind of discipline I have been able to inculcate in my beautiful kids are in the aspects of showing respect and honour to those ahead of them. Anytime they finished eating food appreciate the elders within that axis and same thing follows when they returned from school.

When you don't bend them now, then be prepared to face the consequences that would come tomorrow.
