Deepfake technology has advantages

When I saw the theme for this edition, I was almost restless at the first instance because I never thought of my dictionary to check the meaning. Within my widest imagination I never thought of this. After a little consultation with my wife, she share her perspective and depth concerning the subject matter thereafter a birth of fresh idea started dropping. Special thanks to the entire management for their efforts in delivering such quality theme for discussion such as this.

Deepfake technology is a digital or modern day technology that uses artificial intelligence which is known as AI to make fake images like videos, pictures or audio recordings. Deepfake technology uses an individual's face to pass pseudo or a voice of not the original person. Deepfake technology is normally associated with negative impacts and things even though for the purpose of this post I would like to expantiate on the positive dimension if it could be properly harnessed.

Deepfake technology has helped to spread lots of fake information and even news int the present world. For instance some of the videos of our top leaders trend with false information today due to the deepfake technology. The top leaders have high reputation hence tarnashing their image is what other negative people consider as a high level of achievement. Presently deepfake technology trends a lot in my country especially in the crash economy and insecurity insurgency. Still pictures are used with the machine and turned it into motion. You would see the person talking whereas it was mechanically done.

Many criminals too uses this technology to achieve their selfish desire by impersonating individuals which ends in some fraudulent activities, scam, blackmail. Recently some people's social handle accounts were hacked and the scammers started calling and chatting names of people within such contacts. This is purely deepfake technology.

I know the common perspective of deepfake is that it ruins people's lives however if we can turn the head of the coin to the other side, one could appreciate the advantages it carries. Let me quickly share some way forward if deepfake technology can be used for positive impacts.

One of the outstanding benefits it would have will be in the educational system where the learning process will be improved. Some teaching aids like the heroes of academia and ancient land mark individuals like Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther, etc their speeches can be converted to videos so that students can watch. It's said when a child sees something it has more impact than just listening. This would really help to better the historical understanding of the students. This technology could also be a good means to explain some complicated and complex aspects in science through some simulation.

Another advantage it would have is in the area of language translation and improves communication. The original face could be used to translate films into different languages while maintaining the original face. For instance there has been trending Jesus films that was translated into various languages which helped to propagate the gospel to the people's local dilet.

Another area I feel deepfake technology would have advantage is in area of marketing and advertising. One advert can be used to advertise products into different regions and languages. This would save cost and increase more profits.

Deepfake technology it's good but the negative way it has been used has caused havoc.
