CULTIVATING A READING CULTURE. πŸ“š πŸ“š πŸ“–

It's been a while that I wrote something about reading. There are lots of things that has been said about reading but I discovered that many read for different reasons such as to pass exams or to proof a point. When I saw the theme for this edition, I was like wow this is timely and the need for the time. The theme says reading habits.

There is a common statement which goes, if you want to hide something for a black man, kindly put it in a book or writing. This shows that many Africans don't really like reading neither turn it into a good learning spirit. In this post, I would share some life experiences I have seen over time. I will also share some secrets how one could maintain consistency despite the challenges of th present. Personally it's been a struggle for me to maintain consistency in reading physical materials. I have a poor reading culture especially when I have access to hard copy but I have been trying my best to ensure that I change the narrative and maintain consistency.

To maintain a reading habits there are some factors that must be put into consideration. I have received many complaints from varied students how they struggle a lot to balance their reading habits with other things. There are lots of secrets that one must not take for granted in order to have a developed reading life style. The first thing that one must do is to ensure that the mind is free and not clouded with several things that could be a distraction. I will later share some things that limits one's reading habit. When the mind is free, it allows one to be able to think and assimilate easily. I have struggled with this anytime I am upset, I find it difficult to comprehend most of the things I read. The degree to which you read is determined by the settings of your mind and disposition of the heart as well.

Get a good reading posture if not, the reading process could be very boring. I dislike seeing people lying down or having a diverted sitting arrangements to start reading. I think that's one of the most reasons why libraries are established in order to deliberately inculcate good reading culture in the life of an individual. Reading culture entails.

How often do I read physical books? Hmmm this question will really expose my nakedness in terms of reading. I barely read infact, sometimes don't even read any book in a month. This is quite very bad from my end remember I study my Bible everyday ooooo.

There is a book I am currently reading. It's timely for me because it suits into my expectations and desire for this season. It has reshape and reorganized my perspective towards fasting and prayers.

In my little corner, I have resolved to have a time table and lists of books that I would each moment. I have been reading other materials though not hard books. I preferred e-reading than the physical one because it motivates me a lot. In developing good reading culture one must be humble and patient. I intend to finish the book in no distant time.

Thanks for reading through.

I totally understand the struggle of staying consistent with reading physical books. E-reading also works better for me because it’s easier and more flexible.
