Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender is a 10/10

NOTE: The full movie for ‘Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender’ has been accidentally emailed to Twitter user who released the full movie on his account. The estimated budget is around $80 millions, and was supposed to be released on paramount+ in October this year.

I recently finished watching "Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender" and I am still thinking about it. If you know me, you know I am the kind of guy who can never really get over Avatar and Naruto. These two series stay with me forever because they are part of who I am. But watching the Avatar movie with human characters was such a bad experience that I really wish I could just unsee it. It was the same thing with the Naruto movie version. Even Boruto and Korra were not a 10/10 for me because they just didn't hit the same way.

After all those bad experiences, I didn't have high hopes for anything new. I thought this would be another disappointment, but it turned out to be VERY VERY good. I have to say it twice because it really was that great. For anyone who is a fan of the original series, this is a must watch. It finally feels like we got something that respects the original story.

What I loved most was how each scene felt like it was made in a nostalgic way to give you constant reminders of the show. If you remember the scene from the original series where Azula cornered Katara and she had to use her sweat to bend water, this movie tries to give you that same feeling. In this version, Katara runs out of water and Sokka brings a bending machine or device to help her. Even though that moment felt a bit unnecessary since the fight had stopped and other benders were there, it felt like the makers were trying to copy that old scene frame by frame. They wanted to create that same tension and atmosphere from the Azula fight just to make us feel nostalgic.

It wasn't just that one time either. The cabbage man is back and his cabbages got ruined again. Hearing him say "my cabbages" was perfect because that line stays the same in every version and it just feels right. I also felt those same iconic vibes during a scene with Toph. It reminded me so much of when she first used metal bending. The tension in the air was high and then Toph unlocked more of her power. It gave me chills because it felt so much like the original character we love.

Katara’s character was also spot on. She is still kind and can see what is coming. She has that gift of sensing bad people or seeing the good in someone before anyone else does. It reminded me of how she was the first one to see the good inside Zuko. Every bending scene in the movie had these nostalgic moments that felt like they were put there just to refresh our old memories. If you loved the original four books on Nickelodeon, the humor and the way the characters act will make you very happy. It is hard to love something so much and then see it ruined, but this movie actually felt right.

In some parts, it felt like they took inspiration from Kung Fu Panda 3, maybe because the teams were the same or they just liked the style. The way they showed the spirits and spiritual power reminded me of that. I really didn't like the Korra series because of how it handled spirits, but here the characters weren't way too overpowered. Everything felt balanced. I could honestly keep writing and writing about how much I liked it, but I don't want to give away too much. If you have seen the original series, you will find this story very easy to follow. Even though it is a movie and doesn't have as much time for deep character growth, it still feels justified and fun to watch.

I never knew you were an anime fan.

I've been watching anime since way before it was popular (1986). I enjoyed watching Avatar and Naruto with my sons when they were younger. It has been a very long time though. Glad you enjoyed the live action version. I would have been surprised if it was good as I've seen more than my fair share of bad adaptations.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Interesting! Naruto is a part of life, as well as avatar! I lesson to anime rap songs as well! When u can't get time to relive those old memories of watching, you can always listen to quick rap songs about individual characters.

What's live action adaptation when u think of it? This was a 10/10 and highly recommended if u r a true avatar fan, definitely go for it. Although official launch is on Oct, I watched a leaked version. If u r okay with it, I can share it with u in dm. I often download movies first, so I have a copy as well.

If I am thinking about anime converted to live action that would be Initial D. My son loved the anime (and I enjoyed it also) the live action was a different take on the story so I kind went .... hmmm.... interesting as an alternate reality but not a true to the story adaptation.

There was also a "Great Teacher Onizuka" live action but we are going way way back in time with that one. It appears to have been an adaptation to a live action TV series from the anime. I was only able to find one or two episodes which were fan subbed. Great for what it was but we are talking mid 1990s so a long time ago :)

Other anime to live action? City Hunter was an excellent remake :) Well, the Jackie Chan one is very different than the Japanese one. Maison Ikkoku had a live action remake but I didn't see much of it. One Piece was good live action but I never saw the anime. Same as Cowboy Bebop good live action but never saw the anime.

As for the absolute worst anime adaptation.

Would have to be Sailor Moon M

That was just wrong....
... very very wrong

Hilariously wrong.

And as for the Avatar movie? I think I would need to rewatch the series first to catch up :) My mind doesn't remember the details like it once did.

As for listening to anime music?

Megumi Hayashibara. Voice Actress and singer. Loved her stuff (Give a reason is one of my favorites from her). It's pop so not likely your style but yeah, I like anime music :D

Wow thanks for the heads up. Looks like I'm totally outdated. I didn't know about this movie. I will also try to watch. I'm a huge fan of Avatar too.

By the way I actually liked the series they started on Netflix with real people. One thing that I liked about it was that they covered a few things that were not a part of the cartoon series.

Today with the help of technology so many things can be made. I wish some day we can see full HD version of the same old Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Guess I was too early when it got leaked and watched it. The legendary bala himself commented on my post lol. That's your first comment on my post in 4 years xD

Welcome for giving me the owner of recieving your comment.

About the avatar, I was first fan of katara, then zukko and then uncle iroh

Tea is just a hot leaf juice.

In this movie version, u will find out two air benders flying with help of each other. Air bending is way too over powered on this version but then again, avatar is the last of his kind as per this timeline so..... You will also learn about earth bending history and spirits and previous avatar lifes etc. I didn't added those to avoid spoilers. And I am still considering if I should spill more beans or not. But it was damn awesome. I watched it like a grown man live his childhood again.

We didn't had TV back then (later cable), so I visited my dad's Friend place and me and his son watched it on Nickelodeon. Later another dad's friend had a huge library and I was soo excited and looked for avatar books but got disappointed. He was kind off annoyed to not see me impressed. But I just wanted those 4 books that he didn't had so.......
