Arguably, one of the fastest-growing sectors in our world today is the entertainment sector. What used to be entertainment some time back isn't really that now, or rather isn't the trend or thesame way again. Several diverse means of entertainment have come up over the years, with more still coming up. This could be to satisfy the needs and desires of people towards entertainment, providing a variety to choose from, while the entertainers make their money.
The movie industry is one of the major faces of the entertainment industry. In it exists one known as Reality TV Shows. Somehow, I found out about this through the media noise and all that. What we knew then; though some of us didn't think it this way initially, was that movies are works of fiction, or acting as we called it. Coming then to realise a genre as Reality TV Shows seems like we would be getting some real stuff.

I must say that at first it seemed to me like these shows were all real and no element of intentional acting. That it wasn't about “ready, one, action” that we know of the movie world. It was like, okay, these people have cameras following them around and they are just doing their things and being themselves while continually being recorded and captured. Well, I was wrong. The name doesn't suggest its reality.
I've never really been a fan of Reality TV Shows. Well, you can say my biased position. But I'll remain logical and unbiased as much as possible in airing my points on this discourse. My first concern about these shows and their possible effects is that, they are not even real. You would expect a production called a Reality TV Show to be something real, right? I realised that this works like movies too. There's what to do, what to say, and how to act in certain scenarios.
These productions might be exploring the lives of the people to some details, but it's only what they want to show, tell or relate and how to do them. This concern builds to a larger concern about the authenticity of what they even display. In the long run, I'm also left questioning what these shows yield in the hearts of the audience who are exposed to a flamboyant lifestyle that's based on “scripts and actions.” That's where the danger is.

Anyone conversant with these shows would see that it flashes wealth, relationships, beauty, and exotic lifestyles, which are not real. Don't get me wrong. Some arguably have the means to such lifestyles, but they are based on what they choose to relate as a story. The audience now watching could subconsciously begin to emulate such a lifestyle built on a show. When watching a movie, we know it's fiction, right? You wouldn't want to start emulating the actions or lifestyles, except if that was out of obsession. Here, a reality is presented that isn't real.
The danger is that many hooked up with these shows develop an obsession with such lifestyles. For some, it could lead to anything necessary to become it. And the fact that teenagers are kids watching these is a big concern. If it's about entertainment, movies which we are certain are fictional are enough out there to do that. I don't think we need to add up shows that teach little to nothing, but rather exalt and display a world of flamboyancy and exotic lifestyle.
