RE: The Thief lives within, Crime rate in my vicinity

I am so sorry to hear that your home was invaded by a stranger- a thief who went through all of your personal belongings!

So lucky that he didn't take any thing from you and I hope that he doesn't come back again!

I used to live in a big shared house and people were creeping in all the time stealing things, so I know how unsettling it feels.

Have you thought about making some booby traps. Simple and cheap things like stringing together empty tin cans and when you go to bed at night, tie them across your front door and tie them to your window so if anyone tries to open them when your asleep, you will wake up and the noise will scare them off.

I used to use them and they worked well!

Then there's always the rat trap. Set that every night in front of the front door and bang! Ouch.....that's if the noise from the tin cans doesn't scare them off first. (and most importantly- don't tell anyone that you have those booby traps!

A spray bottle with dye in it is good too, then the wannabe thief will be walking around for days stained in the colour that you choose- blue would be the best...🤣...!

And when you move house and all of your things are packed up in boxes and bags, that is almost an invitation for thieves. It's like you have gift wrapped everything of yours for them and to them- all their christmas' have come at once...so that's when you have to be extra careful.

I am so sorry that you had to go through that horrible experience, but unfortunately it happens everywhere and with the cost of living going up, pay going down, rent going up, people losing jobs, food going up, it's only going to get worse too I think, so best prepare yourself as much as you can.

Stay safe hon!

You got me laughing with all suggestion but truth be told they will really work well.
My mum once had that rat trap set in her bag of groundnuts which caught one of my aunt when she went to pick some groundnuts hidden for next year planting.
This is really a good suggestion.

Thank you for sharing.
I hope that we will all survive this hardship.

Yes, the tin cans as a 'doorbell' and if that fails, the rat trap!

Wow I bet your aunt had a fright when she got the rat trap instead of the Groundnuts...poor woman must have turned her hair gray!

Yes I too hope that we will survive the hardships and that more people won't have to turn to theft to survive and to eat...
