Where They Belong

I think there’s a limit to certain things. There’s a reason why we were taught that animals are categorized into two: wild and domestic. This has helped us identify the ones we can adopt as pets and the ones that should be kept in zoos and reserves. This has made life easier, and one thing I would not want to do is go against this ideology. Wild animals are better suited to be in zoos and reserves, and domestic animals should be kept as pets.

In fact, some domestic animals that most people have as pets should be put in the zoo as well because most of these pets’ behaviours are wild. Tell me why a domestic animal that is someone’s pet would chase another person. That behavior is wild.

In response to the prompt, I do not think it is okay to own wild and exotic pets. Even if we can afford to raise them, we shouldn’t be allowed to own lions, tigers, crocodiles, and other wild animals. No matter how much we want to say that it is okay to own these wild and exotic pets, we should take into consideration that these pets at some point will outgrow their owners. Besides, if you own these as pets, will you be able to train them to recognize other people and be nice to them?

Even domestic pets that we claim are not wild, if they are being left unchained, sometimes attack people they do not know. This includes hens and cocks. I was once chased by a hen. That’s a domestic animal, but of course she chased me, and thank God she didn’t catch up with me. I don’t know what her intentions were. So imagine you're taking your pet lion for a walk and then it starts chasing everyone it sees.

Some people might think that they would do a better job in taking care of these wild animals as their pets but trust me, they deserve to be in the zoos and reserves or even the forest I don’t mind. We should leave this job to the professionals they know how to handle them. Sometimes these wild animals even attack the professionals, so imagine an amateur with the mindset of turning a wild animal into a pet.

Aside from this, I don’t think wild animals can survive in the same environment as that of domestic animals. Most wild animals are meant to thrive in nature's wide territories like the reserves. So keeping them in a confined space like we keep our domestic animals, is something that will be difficult for them to adapt to and then if you want them to roam around that is putting individuals around that environment at a risk.

I think that wild animals are not meant to be pets, there’s a reason why they can’t be pets, so it should be left at that. All we could do is appeal to the government and also individuals to contribute to the resources of the zoos and reserves. If my neighbor has a lion as a pet, I am moving out of that neighborhood as soon as possible. There’s a reason why we have wild animals and domestic animals.

I disagree ooo,

Let them legalized owning of Lion as pet, I need one in my palace 😅

They don't belong to the zoo alone, they should live among us too. I believe if a animals is trained from Baby they can adapt to being a pet.
