Instilling Hope in the Counselee by Wayne A. Mack

Most people today are weak in heart or in need of counseling because they feel hopeless, tired, and discouraged. That is why counseling exists to show them that there is still hope because God is present.

True hope comes from God, not from our own positive thinking or the idea that everything will eventually turn out well on its own. For me, I would use the Bible to give hope and help believers realize that they can change and that God can help them. By sharing Bible verses, they are reminded and able to understand God’s love, power, and faithfulness.

I have realized that a person without hope will no longer try again. But if they have hope, they will keep trying, obey God, and take steps to improve. Many people who face problems often lose hope. However, when a person has true hope that comes from God, they become more motivated to change and grow.

The goal is not only to make a person feel better, but to bring them closer to Jesus Christ and to transform their mind, heart, and whole life.
