From The Creative Perspective Who Spends More Time Online : How I Keep My Digital Life in Check

As a creative, balancing content creation, running an online store, and writing on the Hive blockchain requires structure, and I’ve developed a system that helps me stay on top of everything. To begin with, my most-used social media platforms are Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp. But I also dedicate time to exploring different Hive communities, posting articles, and engaging with others.

Hello beautiful people, my name is Joyce and I’m new in this community. Today I’ll share how I keep my digital life in check as a creative. This is #digi-prompts 027.

Planning is Everything

I love planning my content in advance because it keeps me consistent without feeling overwhelmed. My content calendar helps me organize my ideas, track my posting schedule, and ensure I engage with my audience regularly. As someone who journals a lot, I write down a month's worth of content in my notebook and sometimes I keep them in my google docs.

Also, my close friend is my reminder app. I tend to forget some things quickly, probably because I always have a lot of ideas in my mind, so I love to use my most frequent app to remind myself of the things I need to get done.

To be more practical, I message myself on WhatsApp with the activities I need to do throughout a specific period of time in a day. And the fact that it’s my most frequented app makes it easier to get reminded and act accordingly. I also pin the chat because I love intentionality.

So,whether it’s social media, my online store, or Hive, I set reminders for important tasks so nothing slips through the cracks.

Batch Creating and Early Morning Edits

As an early riser, I maximize the quiet morning hours for proofreading my articles and editing my video content. This period is also my best time to do voiceover storytelling. I also love to film multiple videos, take photos, or draft articles in one session, then refine them over time.

Editing early in the day allows me to focus without distractions, ensuring that by the time my audience is online, I have polished content ready to go.

Strategic Posting and Scheduling

I schedule my Instagram posts for 9 AM and begin my online engagement for the day at this time. By then, I’ve already done my morning prayer and planned my breakfast. I also use this time to post updates on WhatsApp and my business page, ensuring I maintain a strong online presence without feeling overwhelmed.

I allocate specific time slots for Hive, where I explore different communities, post articles, and interact with fellow writers. Around 12 pm when I get bored at work, I love to go “online sightseeing” on hive. I just go around different communities, discover new amazing ones and also get prompts and ideas for my next article. Well, I came across the digital lifestyle community via sightseeing!

Using the Internet Intentionally

I spend a lot of time online, whether for research, content creation, or engaging with communities. However, I ensure my internet use is organized. Instead of aimless scrolling, I structure my online time around productive tasks, posting, engaging, learning, and managing my business.

My calendar and reminder apps help me stay disciplined and prevent endless scrolling and other digital distractions from taking over my day. All I had to do was manually input all the important dates, time and their titles and boom the reminders come at the right time.

You see this calendar app, it’s a lifesaver because it has reminded me of special events, days and birthdays of my friends and loved ones that I tend to forget. It also reminds me that hey, it’s time for some specific timely activity for instance, the time of the month for my savings, my monthly flow cycle, and self-care days.

By maintaining this structured approach, I can manage my digital life efficiently while staying productive, creative, and engaged across multiple platforms.

Great writeup! You're like me in that I've long known of the value of setting up to-do lists as a way of plotting out my digital path ahead. I write most of my posts either in the evenings or overnight, when everyone is asleep and I can better focus on the tasks ahead.

I also have a Hive Notes folder where I list potential post titles (you'd be surprised at how many of my articles germinate from a good title), lines of text and partial paragraphs.

Sometimes I'll go in and find a scrap that I can use that will be perfect for something I'm working on now. I also have a huge over 5K words "work post" that I add to from time to time. This isn't intended for publishing, instead its a way exercise my creativity the samw way that a comedian will "try out" and develop a new joke or bit in front of an audience. Seeing it written out allows me to view if it'll fit in with a current or future writing project.
