Thank you @funshee for tagging me in the @vybolt lightning chain :-) How exciting! 😀 So the question I am being asked and which I will ask the next person is:
What are the three most essential things you are looking for in a post and what do you think motivates you most to make a comment on an article you have just read?
In terms of actual content, I look for something intellectual or philosophical that challenges the intellect and makes me think and question pre-existing norms, OR a post that brings something interesting and new to the table and to my attention and allows me the opportunity to learn and gain knowledge, OR a post that is personal in nature, inspiring and uplifting. I love posts that deliver messages through creative works such as short stories and poetry, but I am equally happy reading a well-researched discursive essay.
The post must be original and not plagiarised and there must be evidence that the person has put in a personal written qualitative effort into the post. No respinning or redundant messaging and not just a post full of photos without any meaningful written content. I do, however, upvote artists and photographers, and other creatives (whose focus is non-written) who I believe provide good accompanying written context for their art.
The third thing is connection. The posts I really enjoy are the ones where I feel that the author has made an effort to connect with me as a reader, by showing me a part of themselves in their posts, showing vulnerabily or sharing their personal views so that I feel like I am getting a little window into who they are as a person. And when these people engage meaningly in their posts and then also engage meaningfully in the comments, this is when I really enjoy a post.
What motivates me most to comment is tied in with (3) above ...when authors have made a real attempt at connecting with their audience and have posted a quality article that tells me not only something about the facts of the article or creative piece but shares a bit of who they are as a person and allows me the privilege of being able to visit with them. If I get the feeling from a post that I could be sat next to the author enjoying a cuppa on the sofa, I will engage to my heart's content💗
I invite @dreemsteem to take part. @dreemsteem you have been struck by @vybolt.
