A little bit of Youtube ~ Where to start in life

(edited)

First off the title is a bit happy clappy, I only added "in life" because it seemed philosophical. It also tickles our self-help happy place and makes a person think ooh this might be good.

In fact it probably won't be so get your hopes back in the gutter.

If I Started a YouTube Channel in 2023, I'd Do This

The first video I happened on is from Ali Abdaal, and I think he mainly came into my recommendations because there is this fast talking red head girl I sometimes listen to for 2 out of 10 minutes.

They do fall in the sel-improvement niche but tend to have some practical things they discuss. In the above video he is mainly covers some steps to getting into Youtube and just deciding how to approach creating content based on how involved you wish to be.

It is a pretty good breakdown of how to approach things systematically.

In it he mentions systems though which is something that always resonates with me. I personally do try build systems albeit like a mad scientist haphazardly.

How to overcome the fear of getting started.

On a side note I clicked through to the next video and half listened so think it has good correlation if only based on title. When it comes to starting I am the worst, see my ten million posts about procrastination, once I get started though I am pretty good at going given; I have implemented a system.

Now quite a bit of it is habit forming but if a task seems tedious, dull or just intimidating actually having a system to completing it effectively will get you to the parts you like sooner.

Not all things are completely tedious but all things have tedium as a trait.

Not to mention our attention spans are shot so we can easily turn the most exciting things we like to do into chores.

Ths is where systems come in, not only for efficiency but also for motivation in achieving something then having the will to continue. Instead of stopping before the good part which usually can even be the hard part.

A trick there is to learn to like doing the hard things.

I am really tired

Being tired is not just a physical trait, it is an emotion and realising that feeling tired or drained is an emotional response helps work through it; Or to decide if it is healthier to quit.

Personally, I don't tend to get all giddy about the future or even acknowledge it half the time. I do however have an innate view of it whenever I speak or think of planning.

It may not be concrete and it may not always be realistic because like how scents can conjure nostalgia very strongly an abstract view of what I want to come next can conjure a feeling of certainty.

I think starting most things are like that, it is the drive we have in the beginning once we get going. Even so a person can get complacent and let things slip and no matter how certain you feel if you don't act on it that glimmer of the end will fade.

Now say you keep the glimmer, it shines brighter and brighter, things have changed it is vastly different than when you started but remember you never had a precise outcome you only had the certainty of a beneficial outcome.

In the end that is so obviously simple to just keep going and yet so hard to know why you are going.

Then nap... or don't

I was watching a video by a guy running across Australia and he was giving advice to someone who wanted to start running and get fit and said similar things.

You need to just start, get out the door and go. And importantly, just take it easy, run at whatever pace you like for just 5 minutes.

Do that everyday. Reward yourself after the 5 mins, even with a beer or whatever you do.

The main thing is starting and forming the habit. Because improving and getting better you will do automatically.

Yeah I think that is worth trying but some personalities don't always align with incentives like that. Rewards can over time be discounted and not seen as worth it, it goes a long way to trying to have the reward actually be enjoying doing the hard or boring things. I personally don't respond to incentives well. !PIZZA !LOLZ

I never upload any videos on youtube and it seems very hard for me because I get very little time to make a youtube video. I think I am a lazy person who doesn't want to be active also. But after reading this and watching those videos it gives me a feeling like it's not impossible also. I am saving this article in my bookmarks. Who knows I may need this again in the future.

I think the hard part is possibly making the videos but it depends how picky you are, if you approach it more relaxed and just make things because you want to and get into the habit of just uploading and getting it over with then in the future you might find you do want to spend more time making a simple screenrecording better or learn how to make nice title screens but mostly there is no need and just like shitposting you can shitvideo post :P !PIZZA !LOLZ
