I heard it made the news that the country is in complete chaos because of the outage. Has there been any official announcement why it happened?

I think there is no official statement yet... As I have traveled out from Spain this morning, I don't know more details...
Crazy times. But, it's probably one of those blackouts that will not last more than a week.
