I'm definitely a big fan of our Ecosystem's second layer communities and the variety of Hive-Engine tokens that support them, I have been trying to find ways to go more "in depth" in understanding the different communities and what they have to offer.

Not So Easy...

Aside from the absolute basics — which are available through Hive-Engine, TribalDex, LeoDex and so forth... having a closer look at the actual tokenomics of each token can be a tricky business.

In fact, I haven't yet found an effective or efficient method of ascertaining exactly what each tribe's token does and at what rate it does it, and how tokens are minted, divided and distributed and so forth.

One person — a long time ago — did try to be helpful to me and showed me how to get to the information about a token... which basically resulted in my looking at a very a long string of text that I really was not able to interpret because I don't speak "Tech."

It showed, however, that the information is out there... somewhere.

However, I'm a patient cat so I'm going to keep digging to see if I can find something comprehensive somewhere and failing that... I guess I will just have to keep poking around and create my own information database from some combination of originating posts, exchange listings, original white papers (when there ARE any), and whatever else you can find.

In some ways, I find it a little ironic that blockchainiacs are often so proud of the "transparency" of the blockchain, and yet you have to be a veritable Sherlock Holmes to uncover much of this information. I know it's there, but extracting the bits you need almost requires a 4-year college degree!

A New Challenge For Developers?

So let's consider the BIG picture.

Having a more readily available and decipherable way to examine Hive-Engine tokens, their format and their tokenomics seems like a project that would be ideally suited to @peakd, because they have the most impressive grip on usability and the appropriate way to present information in a way that non-technical folks could read. And understand.

Now, you might wonder why I'm even concerned with this.

Aside from my own personal curiosity — and wanting to explore some of these tribal tokens further — I think it's an important part of the information that should be readily and openly available if we are hoping to present potential new members of the Hive community to the idea that "Level Two" is an interesting and viable thing for them to actively participate in.

I'm not talking aboiut "developer types" or investors here, but actual end users who are simply interested in participating... and might drop $50 on a tribal token if they like the community.

Imagine — purely as a metaphor — that you were rewarded not only for your Facebook activity, but also for your activity in every special interst group where you were an active participant!

Disclosure...

If you were being asked to join something, wouldn't you want to know a little bit about how it works? Wouldn't you want to know a little bit about what the underlying mechanics are so you have at least a reasonable understanding to set your expectations by? I certainly would!

I'm definitely willing to entertain the idea that I've missed something somewhere and that this information already exists in a comprehensible format somewhere. However the only format I have found has been piecemeal here and there and is not really very effective!

Of course, the cynic in me is also willing to entertain the possibility that this type of information is deliberately obfuscated to keep most people from really knowing what's going on...
