Week 2 of the NCAA college football season is in the books and if you thought week 1 was exciting, you are in for a treat. If this is any indication of what the full season is going to be like, we have a lot to look forward to. Number 10 Florida State definitely seems to have left the woes of the past behind them as they took down East Texas A&M 77 to 3. Given it was a cupcake game you might think it's not such a big deal, but if you have been following them, you know they finished the season last year with an ACC conference record of 1-7 and an overall record of 2-10.

I'm not going to cover all the games for you today. Just the ones that I feel are significant. If you have a problem with that I apologize. Google is your friend, I won't be offended.

I didn't watch it, but the Baylor/SMU game looks to have been pretty exciting. SMU was ranked 17 before this game and favored to win, but Baylor stunned them with a 48 to 45 double overtime win. This is part of what I love about the early season football games. Even cupcake games can throw some surprises at you from time to time. Just ask Michigan about that loss to Appalachian State a decade or so ago.

I think one of the biggest match ups this year in the Big 10 is going to be Penn State vs. Ohio State. That could be a precursor to what teams actually end up in the national championship game. Number 14 Iowa State had a close 16 to 13 win over instate rival Iowa. I think I said that might be a good game last week.

I see I was wrong about Kentucky taking down number 17 Ole Miss though. Oregon took down Oklahoma State pretty significantly and now find themselves in the number 4 spot in the nation. That means three of the top five spots in the nation are held by Big Ten teams. I just wish one of them was Michigan State.

South Florida had a close 18 to 16 win over Florida, and speaking of Florida, Miami beat Bethune-Cookman 45 to 3 to fill out the tip five in the nation at number 5.

Mississippi State stunned Arizona State and knocked them out of the top 25 with a 24 to 20 win. Meanwhile, LSU snags the number 3 spot in the nation after a 23 to 7 win over Louisiana Tech. Probably the second best news of the day for me was the Michigan loss to Oklahoma 24 to 13 down in Oklahoma. That drops Michigan down to the number 23 spot and moves Oklahoma up to the number 13 spot.

The best news of the day was the 42 to 40 Michigan State win over Boston College in double overtime. It's going to be a tough job being a Michigan State fan this year. I can already tell, but big wins like this are always going to be a welcome site. I was actually spent from the other activities of the day and I didn't even try to stay up and watch the whole thing.

It wasn't until I woke up the next morning and saw the score along with the fact that they went into double overtime. Week three is going to be on top of us before we know it. Are you ready?
