Late Nights...

The other night my wife and I went to watch our niece play volleyball at her high school. It ended up being a long evening that could have been a lot longer. Unfortunately, our nieces team didn't do that great, so instead of going five full sets the match only lasted three sets. It still put us home a bit late, but it was better than the alternative.

Despite the team not winning, it was still great to watch our niece play. She is very aggressive on the court and she is a great leader sacrificing herself for countless saves. It's crazy how little hesitation these ladies have about throwing themselves on the ground to keep the ball from hitting.

It would be helpful if they had a bit more height at the net. I think that is their biggest flaw right now, but you can't really fix that. Height, and the fact that they leave the middle of the court open too often. I can't tell you how many times in the past couple of months I have watched her play we have seen a ball fall into the middle of the court and everyone is diving in from the outside to try and get it.

It's like watching a ripple in a pond from a stone, but in reverse, and with a volleyball, and high school girls.

As I said yesterday, Michigan State plays a very very late game on Saturday night this weekend, so there is a good chance I won't be staying up to watch that. Then, the Lions are slated for the Monday night game, so given that is a school night, I also probably won't be staying up for that game either.

If I had to pick a couple NFL games to put on your radar this weekend, the first one would be The Rams versus the Eagles. Both teams are undefeated, and both teams are looking to be at the top of their divisions this year. This is one of those cases where we could be seeing a potential NFC playoff match up at the beginning of the season. I'm going to go with the Rams on this one, but don't blame me if you make that bet and lose!

It should be a good game.

I'd also point you towards the Arizona vs. San Francisco game in the evening slot on Sunday. Both of those teams are 2-0 as well, so someone will be walking away with their first loss of the season. It should be another really good game I think. I'd probably give the edge to the Cardinals on this one even though it is being played in the City by the Bay.

I am heading out of town to go camping this weekend, so the amount of football I watch will probably be pretty limited. That doesn't mean I won't do my best to keep track of the scores and bring it all back to you here on Hive early next week.

Come back and check it out!
