Dropping the Hammer

If there was any doubt about whether or not the Lions were going to be competitive this year, those should have been expelled after the game this past weekend. Sure, it was just the Chicago Bears who are on their way to becoming the Carolina Panthers of this season, but still, it was a great showing. I still think the defense needs to tighten up, but hopefully that will come with time.

I might be ruffling some feathers here, but I have never really been a fan of Goff. Despite what the numbers say, I don't think he is that good. The Lions have long had an issue with the offensive line and protecting the quarterback. Just ask Stafford. Despite all of that, they find a way to get things done, but I can't help but think if we had a more mobile quarterback, things might be a lot different in Detroit.

What do I know though... I'm the guy who came in last in his fantasy league the last three years in a row or something like that.

Green Bay continues to look good despite my ill'est wishes. Then we have Rogers out there for the Steelers carting around his IV bag and catheter. Not really, but come on man, just hang it up. I've never really been a fan, but you are just embarrassing now. My podiatrist is going to have a lot to say next Monday about the Jets 30 to 10 loss to Buffalo. He is a Jets fan and I remember him lamenting how horrible they are last season. Maybe he will want to talk about the Mets instead.

The Saints continue their struggles into this season. I'm not sure what is going to be needed to right the ship, but there is a good chance they might be looking to make some moves this season. I can't imagine management is too happy about where they are now compared to the Drew Brees days.

The Rams are looking like the Superbowl team they were two years ago. They beat Tennessee 33 to 19, and I'd definitely keep an eye on them. After a not as productive season last year, it would appear they made some adjustments for this season. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to offer.

As I said in the opener, the Lions knocked down and pissed all over the Bears marking their territory 52 to 21. Dallas had a overtime win against the New York Giants 40 to 37. That was just some bad play or play calling at the end there on the part of NY. They basically handed the game to the Cowboys. Cincinnati is undefeated moving into week 3 of the seasons. How crazy is that?

There was some controversy with the Colts/Broncos game. It would appear a late game penalty led to things coming out in favor of the Colts. I didn't watch the game, but if you want to find out more, just do a quick Google. It's basically all over!

Philadelphia proved my point about Kansas City beating them 20 to 17. It's a different ball game when the officials aren't coddling you anymore huh KC? I watched some of the game and I saw a few late slides by Mahomes that probably would have been called as late hits on the defense in other seasons.

Atlanta beating Minnesota 22 to 6 gives me a little more hope for the Lions chances in the NFC North, but as I said before, they need to get their defense in order. We already know the offense is a beast, but it isn't going to matter if the other team is allowed to score more points than you.

Tampa Bay eeked out a win over Houston 20 to 19 last night, and The Chargers slaughtered the Raiders in Vegas 20 to 9.

I’m glad you can recap sports because I don’t have the brain to keep football statistics, games or players straight.

I just pretend well! It's something I enjoy writing about though I don't have the same head for it like my brother's in law do.
