Hive is both for content creators as curators. By voting on content the author will get rewards and you as a curator as well. By voting, youโre helping high-quality posts and comments get more exposure, encouraging creators to keep producing engaging material.
By curating you make an influence in the community. The more staked Hive you have, the higher your votes, the more your influence is.
But you cannot endlessly vote on posts and comments. This is because you have a limited amount of Voting Mana. When your voting mana completely drained, you cannot cast any votes.
You can find your voting mana under your profile. Here below is a picture of my Voting Mana. At the time I wrote this post it was 86.95%
Voting Mana regenerates with 20% per day. This is why a lot of people say that you shouldn't go much lower than 80%. The lower you go, the less effective your vote is and the longer your Voting Mana takes to regenerate.
With each 100% vote you spend approximately 2% of your Voting Mana. This means that 10 times a 100% votes will bring your Voting Mana back to 80%
But you can also cast smaller votes. This way you can vote on more content.
But what happens when your Voting Mana is at 100%? Nothing! This means your staked Hive is doing nothing for you. The Mana will not grow above 100%, so you better ensure that your Voting Mana never reaches 100%. Or at least not for a longer time.
But you might not always have the time for checking out posts on Hive. And that is where Hive.Vote comes into play!
hive.vote is a free service offered by @mahdiyari that allows you to cast votes on authors you've selected when your Voting Mana is above a preconfigured level.
This way you can configure your Voting Mana to be used when it nears 100%.
You go to the website: https://hive.vote/ and login with your account via Hivesigner (Unfortunately Hive Keychain is not available).
When you log in for the first time you need to authorize @steemauto to send votes in your name.
In the home screen you can go to your settings.
Under settings you can set the thresholds. I have configured hive.vote to start voting for me when my Voting Mana is above 95%. You see it is Paused right now since my Voting Mana is 87.38% at the moment of writing.
When you have configured your threshold it is time to add some Hivers to your fanbase. You can find that in the menu on the left.
By entering a username of a Hiver you can add him or her to your fanbase.
The user you are following ends up in the "You Are Folowing" list with some default values. With the gear icon you can change these settings.
The wait time is the number of minutes hive.vote waits before casting the vote. By default it immediately votes after the blog is published. I always set it to 30 minutes.
You can also set a daily and a weekly limit for this specific user. This prevents you from casting too many votes on the same user.
It is wise to add at least a couple of Hivers to your fanbase. Make sure they create quality blogs.
If you have no idea who to follow, you can add me ๐
Here is a direct link for that!
https://hive.vote/dash.php?fan=friendlymoose&i=2
If you don't want to follow Hivers you can also follow a curation trail of one of the curators on Hive. You can configure the trails via the menu as well.
Here are some examples of popular curators:
https://hive.vote/dash.php?i=1&trail=curie
https://hive.vote/dash.php?trail=ocd&i=1
https://hive.vote/dash.php?trail=curangel&i=1
https://hive.vote/dash.php?trail=qurator&i=1
Although you could configure hive.vote to do all of your voting I would not recommend that. Hive needs manual curation and engagement.
Also be aware that hive.vote will not check the quality of your vote. When someone from your fanbase posts something you don't agree with or makes a mistake you do cast a vote via hive.vote.
So use it with care and check out your fanbase regularly.
Thanks @mahdiyari for providing this useful service to the Hive community!
@mahdiyari also has a Hive Witness, so consider voting for his witness to reward him for the work he does for the community.

If you are a photographer on Hive too, come join us in the Hive Photographer Discord Channel so we van make Hive a better place for photographers!
One of the initiatives is the #AAP hashtag. By adding this hashtag to your post you indicate that you are open to critics (tips and advice) from other photographers.
You can also check out posts from other photographers that would like to have feedback by checking out the following link: https://peakd.com/created/aap

It's certainly a great tool for our day-to-day work here at Hive. Sometimes with our busy lives it's hard to keep up with everything and vote, so it's good to have this option to set up automatic voting so we don't miss out on our support.
I also have the idea that if someone puts you in a fanbase, it means that they approve and trust your work, so it's great when that happens. Cheers!
This indeed. They appreciate your content. I see I have 33 followers.
Look again, I think you're 34 now ๐

I also use hive.vote to optimize the use of my spare voting mana, thus avoiding getting to 100% and wasting it. I also use it to spread a little more my upvotes, supporting more authors!
It's a great tool indeed!
thank you for the great explanation !
Only on days when my business obligations take the whole day away, my voting mana goes up to 100% (like today, which was the case).
When there is no crowd and when I have more time for Hive, I am usually around 75-80%.
