I think that occasional extraction would not be a problem. But if the user is powering down all the time to me it tells that this person likely is not planning on being here long. And losing users is a problem. So by extention constand extraction becomes a problem as well.
I should still do a better job checking if people that I upvote are extracting or not. I don't check every person whose post I upvote. But if someone comments on my post I check if they are powering down. If they are at first I don't react to it. But if they keep powering down for a long time I stop voting their comments on my posts. I just leave a reply to such comment and move on.
Today I made a post about powering up some hive. It was perhaps not much in the grand scheme of things. But for me it was a quite lot. But more importanly I hope that if we try to lead by example and show that we are powering up despite the price at least some users will consider remaining here and also powering up...Or at least not powering down as much...
I think so too. It's even worse when they do stay here for long...
I didn't do that either. That would make curation quite cumbersome. What I did do is checking the list of followers (a feed I frequently use) to see if there are accounts that have a very bad KE and/or frequently extract and unfollowed those accounts.
