Road To Hive Open Days (30.04-03.05.2026), Alicante, Spain .:. Ph’s meetups 🫂

I can't believe that we are ONLY a month away from the next big Hive meetup, Hive Open Days, Alicante, Spain!!! If you know me, you know I really like these meetups, and especially these @BuzzParty meetups, which have a different vibe from the Hive Fest... Don't get me wrong, I like both events, but they are very different! If you don't believe me, you have to try them both to know the difference... 😃 A month until the #HODAlicante is enough to arrange your trip and find accommodation... But, let's talk about that...

After my last "big" Hive meetup in Krakow at the #HiveBeeCon in November, I have already had two small meetups in the city where I live! Firstly, @deepresearch came to sleep over on his long trip to the Canary Islands, and last week, @alessandrawhite came to visit us and to practice with @mipiano for the... Well, you will read for what at the end of the post... 😛

I don't live in Alicante, but I do live close to it, which means my "road to" journey will not be as long as it was for previous events... This will be the 3rd edition of this event, after amazing meetups in Hamburg in 2024 and Graz in 2025! If you attended any of these, I know you are considering attending this one, as you know how much fun we had in the first two! The main difference this time will be... Well... This is Spain, the land of the sun and the beach, and Alicante has them both, even in May!! 😀

We can't guarantee anything in life, but for this one, I can guarantee you will have a great time! 😃 Especially when you check out the list of people who already bought their tickets, booked their flights, and found accommodation... Just a few things about the city of Alicante... It has an airport which is relatively close to the city, and of course, there is public transport to get to the city... The airport itself is the 5th most transited airport in Spain by the number of yearly passengers, 2 times more than Valencia, and almost 3 times more than Ibiza! The important thing to say is that it hosts many budget airlines like Ryanair, Wizzair, EasyJet, etc. Depending on where you fly in, you can find cheap tickets for as lowest at 15 EUR! That's cheaper than a bus! 😃 Personally, I was using it to fly to Krakow multiple times (30-40 EUR tickets), Budapest (50-60 EUR), Prague, etc.

Don't be scared of the number of yearly passengers... Alicante itself isn't that overcrowded, especially not in early May... Most people use the airport, and then they go toward other cities on the coast, mostly Benidorm, Torrevieja, Calpe, Villajoyosa, etc. Because of that, accommodation prices in Alicante aren't as high as in Valencia or Barcelona...

If you are a fan of the sea and beach (who isn't? 😂), don't forget to bring your bathing suit... If we have nice weather, you will probably have a chance to dip your toes (or more) in the sea... We had some bad weather in the first 3 months this year, which should be enough rain and wind for the whole year, and it's time to see the weather changing for the better... 🏖

What about the Hive Open Days timetable of events? Well, you can check that out at the website! @tibfox has prepared a nice programme, and there will be a bit of everything for everyone... For those who like to relax, network, and hang out with Hivian friends, you will have the whole weekend, and probably a bit more... For those who like to learn new things about HIVE, there will be one day reserved for presentations, including some discussions about our favorite chain... If you would like to present your app/project/community, I would suggest you contact @tibfox and reserve your spot...

Oh, I forgot to mention... We will have a mini-concert at the event too! All included in the price! 😃 And a boat trip... and...
