Hola querido hiver.

Los viajes de regreso a casa siempre parecen más cortos. Cuando salí de mi casa iba con la maleta llena de expectativas, soñando con esos encuentros tan deseados y esperando pasarlo fenomenal en compañía de personas a las que considero amigos. Todo eso se cumplió y hoy me apetece escribir cómo fue el regreso para poner el broche final a la loca aventura que ha sido preparar y disfrutar de los Hive Open Days en Alicante.

De camino a la estación de tren tomé un desayuno clásico de café con leche y tostada con mantequilla y mermelada. Madrugué con tiempo suficiente para disfrutarlo de forma lenta, saboreando cada bocado como tratando de aferrarme a lo que acababa de vivir en los días previos.

Me despedí de Alicante con la satisfacción de cumplir con mis propias expectativas, algo que mi autoexigencia siempre me pone difícil. Sin embargo, esta vez ha sido diferente y mucho más positivo. Hablar en público de nuevo tras varios años apartada de este tipo de eventos me daba algo de miedo por no saber si sería capaz. Lo fui, y lo mejor es que han sido más de una y de dos las personas que me han dicho que les gustó mi intervención.

En este viaje no hubo incidencias, todo salió como estaba previsto y fue mucho más tranquilo que a la ida. La experiencia fue tan dulce como los bombones que viajaron desde las islas británicas y que me acompañaron en el bolso de mano durante el trayecto de regreso. Me hizo muchísima ilusión recibirlos de una hiver que me inspira cada día. ¡Gracias infinitas!

Conforme el tren del segundo tramo se acercaba a Zaragoza aumentaban las nubes y la luz del sol anunciaba la tormenta que se estaba desatando en la ciudad. La foto de abajo está tomada unos diez minutos antes de mi llegada, cuando mi marido me decía por WhatsApp que me esperaba en el coche y con el paraguas preparado porque llovía a cántaros. Es increíble cómo puede cambiar el tiempo tan rápido. Cuando bajé del tren el agua y los truenos habían cesado e incluso volvía a salir el sol.

Llegué a mi casa agotada, feliz y con la motivación renovada para seguir aportando mi granito de arena en esta increíble comunidad. En la maleta traje recuerdos de estos días, ¡me costó cerrarla! Contaba con una bolsa de merchandising pero no con la que gané en el concurso de Worldmappin.

Hive es como esa caja de bombones: cada uno somos diferentes pero todos aportamos nuestro sabor. Gracias @ninaeatshere por la foto que nos hiciste a @livinguktaiwan y a mí, ese fue uno de los momentos más bonitos y dulces de estos días.

Hi, dear hiver.

The journey home always seems shorter. When I left home, my suitcase was full of expectations; I was dreaming of those long-awaited reunions and looking forward to having a brilliant time in the company of people I consider friends. All that came true, and today I feel like writing about how the return journey went, to put the finishing touch to the crazy adventure that was organising and enjoying the Hive Open Days in Alicante.

On my way to the train station, I had a classic breakfast of coffee with milk and toast with butter and jam. I got up early enough to enjoy it at a leisurely pace, savouring every bite as if trying to hold on to what I had just experienced in the days before.

I said goodbye to Alicante with the satisfaction of having met my own expectations, something my high standards always make difficult for me. However, this time it was different and much more positive. Speaking in public again after several years away from this sort of event made me a bit nervous, as I didn’t know if I’d be up to it. I was, and the best thing is that more than one and two people have told me they enjoyed it.

There were no incidents on this trip; everything went according to plan and it was much more peaceful than the outward journey. The experience was as sweet as the chocolates that had travelled all the way from the British Isles and kept me company in my handbag on the return journey. I was absolutely delighted to receive them from a fellow hiver who inspires me every day. Thank you so much!

As the train on the second leg of the journey approached Zaragoza, the clouds thickened and the sunlight foreshadowed the storm that was brewing over the city. The photo below was taken about ten minutes before I arrived, when my husband messaged me on WhatsApp to say he was waiting for me in the car with an umbrella at the ready because it was pouring with rain. It’s incredible how quickly the weather can change. By the time I got off the train, the rain and thunder had stopped and the sun was even coming out again.

I arrived home exhausted, happy and with renewed motivation to keep doing my bit for this incredible community. I brought back souvenirs from these days in my suitcase – I struggled to close it! I waited a goody bag, but not the one I won in the Worldmappin competition.

Hive is like that box of chocolates: we’re all different, but we all bring our own flavour to the mix. Thanks @ninaeatshere for the photo you took of @livinguktaiwan and me – that was one of the loveliest and sweetest moments of the event.
