This may be a very weird viewpoint but how I see Splinterlands is like this:
Hi @captaindingus I think every point of view is respectable even if different from mine, and so thank you for expressing your opinion.
There are currently three modes of play where you can't bot...
You are right but the main and most attractive game mode is ranked mode
but having a format where you are essentially "Staking Assets" for RoI is not a bad idea imo...
I'm not totally against this even though Splinterlands has so many ways to earn passive income that turning even a game with gameplay into an idle game I don't know if it's really a right choice in the long run.
My concern is about attracting new players, and the current structure is not very attractive to new players, and I will explain why.
A new player who comes in today and buys Chaos Legion cards does not know that the cards he buys today, tomorrow he can only play them against bots. To me, this situation is very far from being considered an equal opportunity situation. It would be equal opportunity if human players can use all cards from all editions only against human players but it is not.
In the current situation a new player who wants to play only against real players can use only two sets of cards in Modern Format.
There is an imbalance on the use of cards in ranked play in my opinion
How to fix this situation?
In my opinion it would be enough to structure ranked battles like this:
There would be no war between human players and bot users because everyone could use the cards with whoever they want and whatever their goal, fun and roi
However, one thing I see has been said time and again... "Observe what works well in other Web3 games and do that..."
In Wild Format Splinterlands is basically an idle game
Do you know of any web3 idle games that have been successful in the long run and whose tokens and assets have increased in value over time and which have increased in number of players as time has passed?
I have many examples of failed idle games...
In my opinion, the wheel should not be reinvented but improved, and in any game protecting the enjoyment of human players as the main resource should be the priority and the basis for long-term success
Thank you again for your comment
One final tidbit of insight - one of my friends plays Wild and will Bot quite a bit.
The difference is... after they reach a high level... they recognize that they're going to be playing against other Bots... but mostly the same bot accounts...
So they switch over to playing manually and their win rate... improves... 😳
Interesting bit of data and it is certainly an anomaly... I think a Human Modern/Wild and a Bot League would be cool but the issue then becomes "Reward Distribution"...
