Hello everyone, today I’ll be talking about “ owning yourself”
Owning yourself means simply taking charge and control of your life, your emotions, and even the choices you make. These days, people often pretend to be something else but not themselves, which I don’t think is okay. Why not embrace yourself, together with your weaknesses and strengths? Why do you want to be somebody else so bad?!
One thing I have come to realize is that our society sometimes is making a lot of people not own themselves because at a tender age, we are often given messages on how to fit in to what’s going on in our society. We are mostly always compared to one person or the other because of certain achievements and career path which is not supposed to be like that because the pressure gets too much for some people and it makes them somehow go away from their true self. I know some of you might say a young child doesn’t know what pressure is which is a big lie. Anyone can feel pressured regardless of age.
To own yourself is not even hard. It is just you being true to yourself and who you are without pretending to be someone else. And to own yourself you have to be really self-aware so you can discover yourself. If you want to discover yourself, you can start by figuring out who you truly are by taking your time.
Think and discover the things that make you happy, the things that are important to you, what you are good at, and even the extent to which you can take things. As you own yourself, you will not only find yourself but, you will discover a lot and even understand yourself better. The truth is you might not even discover yourself fully at once because that is a long process because as you grow you definitely evolve and even outgrow some things.
Just be true to yourself, don’t compare! “Comparison is a thief of joy they say”. Don’t seek approval or outside validation from others. Own yourself by recognizing your worth and value yourself for who you are. Another important thing that works in line with owning yourself is setting healthy boundaries. Just identify your values and stick to what aligns with them.
In conclusion, being true to yourself is something you work on your whole life. It can be tough, but it is a very good thing to do. When you accept who you are, you can do more, be happier, and help others do the same. So, be strong and start being yourself now. It is never too late to own yourself.
Thanks for your time.
