While many might argue that their kids should get into a particular career path, there are very less such instances as most of the parents will allow their kids to chose a career path of their choice.
There might be multiple reasons behind parents forcing their children to chose a career they want, let's discuss further on this and also not to forget the efforts of parents and their sacrifices in life to shape their kids career.
The efforts of parents will start as soon as they see there will be a new member arrival into the home.
They will start getting ready by setting up the room and they will ensure the best of the Doctors are inspecting the pregnant lady and as soon as the new baby arrives, parents will start setting up things like savings, life insurance buying baby care products and so on and the list goes on.
When kids attain 3+ years, the hunt for best schools for the kids education starts and parents will spend money in Thousands just to get the seat in best school and that's the parents taking pressure in shaping their kids career starts and they will do whatever it takes to ensure the kids completes schooling and college life in the best environment and tries their best to get the children into good career paths.
In doing this, it's quite natural that, parents sees dreams of their kids getting into a particular career like Doctor, Engineer or prestigious Government jobs such as administrative jobs and might force the kids to chose a particular education stream to get their kids into the dream they might have and I would like to list down few such things which might have forced the parents to force the kids into a particular education stream.
It might be that, parents wanted to pursue a career and couldn't fulfill that due to financial issues, family issues or some other reasons and hence, wants their kids to pursue the same career. Quite natural, isn't it?
It might also possible that, their friends' kids are into a career and that makes the parents to think that their own kids should pursue the same career to maintain that status?
Someone has strongly suggested, or some astrologer told that a career brings wealth and fame and that might force the parents, quite possible, isn't it?
It's also possible that, the environment around us as parents should have forced us to feel that, a particular job stream our kids wants to pursue is not safe as per our view of things happened in the past and hence, we don't want our kids to get into that!!!
Well, those are some of the reasons could think of about the reasons behind parents wishing their kids to pursue a career they want. But, ultimately, it's the kids who have to decide on their career path either on their own or with the help of parents and friends or some guidance from someone.
Having said that, as a kids, we all respect parents and most of the time, we will try to fulfill our parents wishes as they are the stepping stone for us. It's just that, sometimes the interests/goals of kids and parents may not align, we just need to think of what is best in the long run and take a decision accordingly.
No parent is bad or should be blamed, if we convince them on the kids aspirations, most of the parents will definitely agree if not all.
